Canadian buyers made up the largest share of major foreign buyers of property in the United States in 2022 by country. In that year, Mexican buyers were the second largest group of foreign buyers, making up eight percent of foreign buyers. The country with the least share of buyers was Japan making up only one percent of foreign buyers. While China made up only six percent of foreign buyers, it had the largest value of residential properties sold of 6.1 billion U.S. dollars.
