Muscat: Expats living in the Sultanate of Oman, who are aged above 60, will be able to renew their work permits and seek employment in the private sector, based on a circular issued by the Ministry of Labour, which seeks to abolish the age cap of 60 years currently in force.

His Excellency the Minister of Labour issued a circular to abolish the age limit of 60 years for expat workers in the private sector.

The circular was sent to Sheikh Nasr Al Hosani, the Undersecretary of Labour at the Ministry, and stated the following: “We would like to inform you that, in view of the current state of the private sector and the large number of requests for exceptions to renew licenses to bring in expat manpower over the age of 60, I ask your Excellency to instruct your specialists to cancel the 60-year age cap for workers in the private sector, and take the necessary measures.”
