You have to contact Sales team at 1.800.591.0302 to purchase QBD 2023 Pro Plus. Otherwise, you can purchase it via selected partners/resellers. QBD 2023 Pro Plus for single user = $650

If you are working solo on a desktop (PC or Mac) to manage your book and only need basic features, you should explore a free program. You can use the program for as long as you like, use all the features and enter as much data as required. There are no time limits, no usage limits, no ads (at this time). This program is quite popular in Asia and Europe.

Currently, 2023 versions only offer as a subscription-based only like QBDT premier plus and Enterprise.

I currently run QB DesktopPro 2020. I do payroll in house. I pay for an annual payroll fee, $500.00 in 2022, and a 6.00 monthly usage fee per employee and receive Payroll Compliance Updates, Tax Table Updates. to the payroll module.

On the advice of my accountant, I tried to purchase QB Desktop 2022 since my 2020 software will sunset May 30, 2023. If I am understanding correctly, I'm being told I only have an online choice now and that includes intuit doing the payroll. That is a no go for the company I work for.

So which choice, I have 3 person payroll, I do 1099's, I file 990, 940, 941, UCT6, I need to print W2, W3, 1096. I don't have the need for intuit to do my file or do my payroll, so which will allow me to manually process payroll ? QB Essentials, Plus, since it is only our office and our accountant's office that needs to access the data.

I'm here to help you choose the right product for your business.

You can either purchase the QuickBooks Online Essentials or the Plus version. These products allow you to process payroll manually. Then, you'll need to work directly with a payroll service to prepare and file your forms. For a detailed comparison, please see this article:Plans and Pricing.

Once done subscribing, you can now import your desktop data to QuickBooks Online.

Then, let's turn off the automatic tax payment and form filing feature to manually perform the process. Here's how:

1. Go to the Gear icon, then select Payroll Settings.
2. In the Taxes and forms section, select Edit ✎.
3. Clear the Automate taxes and forms checkbox.
4. Select how you plan on making your tax payments and filings.
   • I'll initiate payments and filings using QuickBooks.
     • We’ll let you know when your tax payments and form filings are due. You'll see reminders in your payroll to-do list.
   • I'll pay and file the right agencies through their website or by mail.
5. Once done, click Save.

Yes! I had the same problem with 2020! Brand new computer, 64 bit nothing loaded but Windows 10 and the QB software and same thing! crash, slow, totally ridic!!!

I didnt realize QB 2020 was being discontinued in May, 2023 (thanks for the heads up, had no idea) so back in scramble mode. CPA advised to purchase 2022 Desktop for now and deal with the online later, here we are in early December still 2022 and I'm being told I can't purchase QB Desktop Pro 2022, as it is out dated software....really? All I want is the bottom line, which online version will run like QB Desktop Pro? I want to work with whatever is similar to my existing QB Desktop Pro 2020, I user continue to process payroll, have access to payroll updates and not have intuit do it, I don't care if its easier, I work for a non-profit and they are old school , I write my own checks, etc. I print out and mail tax forms, etc., so what? Currently I pay 500 annual Annual Payroll fee and 6.00 Monthly per employee usage fee (new charge). I spent several hour chatting yesterday trying to filter the different upgrades and got no where except the sales pitch. i get that its probably going to be essentials or plus, just tell me which one and how much and quit trying to sell me what I don't need!!!! I's be interested to hear what others are doing....

I was told QBD 2020 was being discontinued May 31, 2023. No support after 05/31/23.

My Annual Payroll Fee is coming up Jan 29, 2023. I would be good with being able to go to QBD 2022 for now, but I understand its on-line? I don't want to pay 500+ in January and be forced to go on-line in June...not sure how that would work. I still have a 3rd payroll to do this month, payroll taxes, 401k, etc., end of year taxes; 4th qtr 941, UCT-6 and 990, 940, W2's 1099's to process in January. Just want to upgrade for now. One user, not sure essentials pr plus includes manual payroll which I need to continue.

If you work for a non-profit organization, why don't you consider upgrading to QB Desktop Premier?

Ask your CPA again, why did they recommend you to use QB Desktop 2022 instead of QB Desktop 2023?

thinking the QB 2022 would last 3 years with annual payroll billing. He did sayOnline conversion is quite easy, and the Essentials would work fine. I have 3 employees, one user.
