What does it mean if a subscription is expired? ›

When a subscription ends, it is considered expired. When a customer elects to end their subscription at the next bill date or term end, this is called canceling the subscription.

You'll still be able to open and print your documents but you won't be able to edit them or to create new ones. Tip: In the meantime, you can use Office Online for free in your web browser. Go Office.com to access the free version.

In the Microsoft 365 Admin Center, select Billing > Your products. Select the subscription. Check if the subscription is active. If it isn't, select Reactivate subscription.
