What are investable assets? - Pittenger & Anderson, Inc. (1)

When looking to hire an investment or financial advisor, youmight run across the term “investable assets.” We define this term as the investment dollars we’re able to manage for you and that count toward our minimum account size. Forour firm, investable assets include:

  • Old employer 401(k) & 403(b) accounts
  • Traditional IRA accounts and IRA rollovers
  • Roth IRA accounts
  • After-tax individual or joint investment accounts
  • Cash to invest
  • Transfer on death (TOD) accounts
  • Trust accounts

The following investment assets are not counted toward our minimums, however, we do advise our clients on these assets held away from P&A:

  • 529 college savings plans
  • Annuities
  • Life insurance policies (whole, variable, universal, term, etc.)
  • Current employer 401(k) or 403(b) accounts

These lists are not all-inclusive but should give you an idea of the different buckets of money we can and can’t manage for you.
