Is Avatar 2 worth watching in 4DX? ›

The 4DX throws you even deeper into the experience and it's an incredibly fun novelty experience but you absolutely need to see this in IMAX 3D first before you dive into the water effects and atmospherics that the 4DX experience provides. I usually choose one format or the other but for this movie and this movie over.

Overall, Black Panther was an incredible film enhanced perfectly by 4DX. It's a great first introduction to 4DX, even though a few of the effects weren't used.

There's no bad seat in a 4DX auditorium as they all move along with the action. That being said, you'll be more engulfed by the fog and the bubbles closer to the front as that's where the machines are located, and you'll get a fuller experience of the rain right in the centre of the auditorium.

You may get slightly wet! You experience rain, wind and even snow, all under one roof in our 4D Cinema!

You should watch Avatar 2 in IMAX 3D, ideally on an IMAX screen with single-laser technology.

The Way Of Water is an excellent film, and what made the experience better is watching in 4DX. 4DX makes you feel what the characters are Experiencing. If you can't catch a 4DX screening, I recommend 3D. Avatar the Way Of Water is a must-see on the big screen!

Some of the effects are better than others – you feel like you're falling into the frame whenever the seats tilt forward in conjunction with the camera – but the sensation is not so extreme that it distracts you from the movie (I had no trouble following the mind-bending logic of Doctor Strange).

Most viewers tend to lean back in their seats. 4DX, however, is incredibly disorienting if you sit that way — you feel at the mercy of the chair, which can go side to side, up and down, and forward and backward. Eventually, we discovered that it was best to sit up straight and almost lean forward a little bit.

Ultimately then, for Avatar: The Way of Water it's a choice between IMAX with single laser, IMAX Xenon or Dolby Cinema. If you can get to a Dolby Screen it's a tough choice as there's likely to be an IMAX screen nearby too, but if you would pick only one, I'd say Dolby sits at the top of the pile.

Dolby and IMAX ultimately come down to preference, with the consensus being that Dolby offers better picture quality, but the larger screens can often make IMAX a better viewing experience.

Regardless of whether you want to see the movie in HFR, you should do your best to see it in 3D if that's at all possible for you.

I agree with Marc, see it in non-3D, non-IMAX format. Theater is going to be better than your TV. Like Marc said, always watch in the intended format. Marvel does pretty good 3D, but the format stinks at showing dark scenes, and Black Panther has a lot of night shots.

In addition to the 3D image, there are also other elements like water, wind, smoke, smells and much more involved in the experience of watching a 4D movie. The most attractive difference for a 4DX movie is that you essentially get to live in the movie.

4DX is a format in which the theater's seats tilt and vibrate to the action in the film, while ScreenX expands the screen to include the side walls of the theater, immersing the viewer in a 270-degree screen with the side screens filling in their peripheral view.

There is more strobing in the 4DX than I noticed in MX4D leading me to believe that MX4D doesn't have any. There is minimal scent in 4DX, and I only noticed it when we see Tony Stark at his cabin by the lake. I could hear something being blown/sprayed, but it was a minute or two before I could smell the pine scent.

It's less intense than a theme park ride, and the seats stay in the same position. 4DX also includes wind, smoke, and even bubbles in one scene. My air shots only worked on one side, but were still fun.

The flying scenes are really spectacular and are so well done. It's gorgeously shot, with a near-total lack of CGI for the flying scenes. The film also gets better when the characters start talking about the mission. They go over it over and over and over again, but it doesn't feel repetitive.

The violence isn't very INTENSE, but the film does deserve it's PG-13 rating. Bow and arrows are present, plus some killing and explosions -- still, nothing gets TOO over the top, and its still TWEEN and TEEN friendly. Also expect strong but INFREQUENT uses of s--t and one or two uses of f--k.

In Avatar 2 you can expect to see partial nudity, battle scenes, cruelty to animals and children, and profanity used by some of the characters. To sum it up, Avatar 2 is not kid friendly for all kids and will be boring for some.
