Michael Burry, known for his financial predictions, had been married twice. In 2010, he mentioned that his first wife was of Korean descent, and his second wife was Vietnamese-American, whom he met through a dating website.

Burry never revealed the names of his wives. While not much is known if Burry is still married to his second wife to this day, it's worth noting that they share a son named Nicholas.

Michael and his second wife's son, Nicolas, grew up differently than other kids, but he saw the boy's personality as normal. He noticed similarities between the boy's behavior and his own when he was a child.

However, when one of Nicholas's school teachers noticed his slow development in arts, it sparked worry in Michael's wife. This concern led the couple to have their son tested. Nicholas was later diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome.

Michael did not believe it until his wife gave him a stack of books related to their son's condition to read. This sent Michael to realize that his son was not the only one with the condition; he, too, discovered he had it. He said:

Through the syndrome, Michael also realized why he had had a special interest in the complicated world of the financial markets. He said people with Asperger's syndrome could not control what they were interested in.

Michael eventually sought a psychologist's help, all while hiding it from his fellow investors. Regarded as a genius at deciphering complex financial markets, it seems that experiencing a loss posed a difficult challenge for him — for instance, the financial crisis in 2008.

He recalled the last day of 2007 when he couldn't go home to his family due to the distress he experienced. He emailed his wife explaining the situation and not wanting to expose their child to it.

Michael Burry Grabs Attention Over Social Media

Before meeting his wife, Michael studied medicine at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine while dabbling in his love of financial investing. However, his passion led him to abandon school and establish his hedge fund, Scion Capital.

He gained fame after predicting the 2008 crisis, which impacted major financial players such as Bear Stearns, Lehman Brothers, and AIG. Seizing the opportunity, he placed a bet that ultimately paid off.

He gained $100 million in personal profits and yielded more than $700 million in returns for his remaining investors. This remarkable event was turned into a book, "The Big Short: Inside the Doomsday Machine," by Michael Lewis.

The book was adapted into the film "Big Short," with actor Christian Bale playing Michael's character. The film boasted an ensemble cast, including actors Steve Carell, Ryan Gosling, Brad Pitt, Jeremy Strong, and Marisa Tomei.

In more recent news, Michael has once again made his forecast for 2023. He reportedly invested over $1.6 billion in bets against Wall Street, indicating his belief in an impending market crash.

Besides challenging Wall Street, Michael also criticized billionaire and Tesla CEO Elon Musk for his controversial response to declining birth rates on Twitter after secretly welcoming twins in 2021.

Without mentioning Elon, Michael's now-deleted tweet read that babies born in the U.S. were "at 1950 levels." However, he stressed that this fact should not lead to the inappropriate solution of bosses having sexual relations with their subordinates to address the issue.

Michael's message hinted at the then-recent birth of Elon's twins from his relationship with Neuralink executive Shivon Zilis. The twins are part of Elon Musk's ten children, which includes kids from his previous relationships.
