FDI into China Climbs 4.9% in Q1
Foreign direct investment into China increased 4.9% from a year earlier to CNY 408.45 billion in the first three months of 2023. FDI inflows into high-tech industries surged 18 percent, particularly electronics and communications equipment manufacturing (55.7 percent) and science and technology conversion services (50.3 percent). Among the main sources of investment, FDI into China increased from France (635.5 percent), Germany (60.8 percent) and the United Kingdom (680.3 percent).

FDI Into China Rises 6.1% in First Two Months of 2023
Foreign direct investment into China went up 6.1% from a year earlier to CNY 268.44 billion in the first two months of 2023. In dollar terms, FDI increased only 1% to USD 39.71 billion in January-February. FDI into the services sector increased 10.1% and FDI inflows into high-tech industries soared 32%, of which 68.9% to high-tech manufacturing and 23.3% to high-tech services. Meanwhile, investment from Belt and Road countries and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations climbed 11% and 11.8%, respectively.

FDI into China Rises 6.3% in 2022
Foreign direct investment into China grew 6.3% year-on-year to CNY 1.27 trillion in 2022, the Ministry of Commerce data showed on Wednesday. In US dollar terms, the FDI rose 8% from a year earlier to USD 189.13 billion. FDI into the manufacturing industry jumped 46.1% from a year earlier to CNY 323.7 billion, while that of high-tech industries surged by 28.3%, of which electronic and communication equipment (56.8%), scientific and technological achievements transformation services (35%), and information services (21.3%). Increases were seen in FDI from South Korea (64.2%), Germany (52.9%), the UK (40.7%), the EU (92.2%), and the ASEAN countries (8.2%).
