What is BDO on Messenger?
It’s an exciting new feature on BDO Unibank’s Messenger that will let you check your BDO account balance and pay select bills via the messaging app. To access this service, you must first have a BDO Online Banking account.
Is BDO on Messenger secure?
Yes it is. BDO on Messenger is like an extension of your BDO Online and Mobile banking and requires you to verify your identity before any activity is done. There are several security measures in place to make sure that the transactions you do on Messenger are really performed by you!
- Before you can start using BDO on Messenger, you will need to link your BDO account and that will require you to enter your BDO Online Banking User ID & Password.
- In addition, a One-Time Password (OTP) will be sent to your registered mobile number with BDO. You need to input this to confirm the linking.
- Each time you do a pay bill transaction, you will be required to enter your Facebook password in order to proceed with the payment
Is access to BDO on Messenger voluntary?
The option to use the financial services of BDO on Messenger is completely up to you. You always have the choice to:
- Link your BDO account (this will require your Online Banking user ID and password plus entering an OTP)
- Unlink your BDO account after performing a bank transaction
- Link again when you need to avail of the financial service
- Not link your BDO account if you don’t want or need to
Is this an automated service or am I chatting with someone from BDO?
Once you have opted-in to the service and linked your BDO account, a menu will help you choose the banking services that you want to perform. No one is manually chatting with you or can view any of your account details.
To make sure you’re dealing with a legitimate BDO account, please look for the blue check beside BDO Unibank on Messenger. Do not talk or engage with other pages or profiles claiming to be from BDO or employees of BDO and all the more do not share with them any confidential and account-related information. BDO only has three official pages on Facebook & Messenger: BDO Unibank, BDO Kabayan, BDO Customer Care
How do I use it?
The first thing you need to do is link a BDO account of your choice to your Facebook account. You can do this via BDO on Messenger. Just follow these steps:
Search for the official BDO Unibank page. Make sure it’s the one with the blue check mark.
Click on “Get Started,” then select “I have an account.” A page will open within Messenger that will ask for your BDO Online Banking User ID and Password.
Enter your BDO Online Banking User ID and Password, and log in.
A One-Time Password (OTP) will be sent to your registered mobile number to authenticate your log in. Do not share your OTP with anyone. If you receive an OTP without requesting for one, inform us immediately.
Once your log in is secure, you will be shown all your enrolled CASA accounts in BDO Online Banking. Select the account you want to link to your Facebook account, then click on “Continue.”
Once you get a confirmation message from BDO Unibank that your account has been linked, you can now check your BDO account balance and pay for select bills.
What if I can’t see the menu when I go to BDO on Messenger?
Make sure you have the latest version of Messenger so you will be able to access the service.
Can I link any BDO account to Messenger?
For now, only savings and checking accounts enrolled in BDO Online Banking can be linked to BDO on Messenger.
How many BDO accounts can I link to my Facebook account?
Just one account can be linked to each Facebook account.
How will I know if my BDO account is already linked tomy Facebook account?
You will see a confirmation message on the screen as soon as your BDO account is linked to your Facebook account. An email confirmation will also be sent to your registered email address in BDO Online Banking.
Once I log in and link my accounts, am I logged in permanently or will I be logged out after a period of time?
You will be automatically logged out after 30 days. If you think you will not frequently access your BDO account, as a safety precaution, you may unlink it from Messenger.
How do I unlink my BDO account from Messenger?
Simply open BDO on Messenger, click on “Your Account,” select “Unlink Account,” and choose “Yes.” You will then get a confirmation message from BDO Unibank once your account has been unlinked. To use the service again, please go through the account linking process.
How do I check my balance?
Once you have linked your BDO account to your Facebook account, just choose “Check Balance” under the menu.
How do I pay my bills?
Choose “Pay Bills” in the menu and select the biller you want to pay. Fill out the form then click on “Submit.” To confirm the payment, you will be asked to enter your Facebook password. You’ll get a confirmation message once this is done.
I can’t find the bill I want to pay. Why is that?
For now, we accept payments to the following billers through BDO on Messenger:

You may still pay a biller that is not in this list through BDO Online or Mobile Banking.
What confirmation will I get for a successful Pay Bills transaction?
You will receive an email confirmation in the email address registered to your BDO Online Banking account for every successful transaction done via BDO on Messenger.
Is there somewhere I can go to view allmy transactions on Messenger?
You can view all your Messenger transactions through BDO Online Banking.
Log in to BDO Online Banking. Go to “Pay Bills and Reload.” Select “Bills Payment,” then click on “View Payment Status.”
Can I use these features on free Facebook?
Yes, if you are subscribed to a plan that includes free Facebook Messenger. If not, then regular telco charges may apply.
If I encounter any problems doing transactions on Messenger, who can I contact for assistance?

Will Facebook be able to see my data example my latest balance? Is thissaved in my message history?
Facebook will not have access to your BDO account information.
As an added feature, when you check your BDO balance, the message sent containing your balance will expire after one minute so there is no sensitive information reflected on your message history. To view again your balance, you will need to make another request to show it again.
For Pay Bills, the message with your transaction details will remain in your Messenger thread and not expire as this serves as your payment confirmation. But you may delete your entire messaging thread with BDO on Messenger as you wish.
What if I have forgotten my BDO Online Banking password?
If you forgot your password, please click “Forgot Password?” at the BDO Online Banking page.
Someone has taken over my Facebook account. How do I unlink my BDO account from my Facebook account?
Please change your BDO Online Banking password immediately. It will prevent that person from making financial transactions using your Messenger account. We also recommend that you report this fraudster to Facebook support.
Someone messaged me on Facebook asking for my account details. Is this legitimate?
Do not engage with any Facebook pages or Messenger profiles that are not any of the three official pages of BDO: BDO Unibank, BDO Kabayan, BDO Customer Care.
We will never ask for your confidential information such ATM/Credit Card PIN, Online & Mobile banking password, and One-Time Password (OTP) etc.
How do I know the page/s I’m engaging with is the official BDO account/s?
We only have three official BDO pages on Facebook: BDO Unibank, BDO Kabayan, and BDO Customer Care.
If you see a blue check mark beside any of these names, then you can be sure that you’re talking with one of our official accounts.
Do not engage with or give any of your account details to pages pretending to be BDO or BDO employees. We will never ask for your confidential information such as ATM/Credit Card PIN, Online & Mobile banking password, and One-Time Password (OTP) etc.
BDO Unibank has not yet responded to my queries OR my case is still ongoing in BDO Unibank, will you see them on BDO Customer Care? or is BDO Customer Care going to message me?
All your messages to us, whether sent to BDO Unibank or BDO Customer Care, will be received by us.
