Proserpine has the basics and more, from health and education to a beautiful waterpark and massive dam nearby plus a short drive to the airport with links to the 3 major capitals, the town is very friendly and you get a really authentic positive vibe from it.
The Whitsundays is filled with like-minded beings who are keen to mingle and meet new people. The locals are kind and friendly and they do make you feel right at home. As the region is a tourist town, new people are constantly swarming the streets which means there is always a happy buzz in the air!
Proserpine is a older style town, where I very rarely hear of any problems. It is a very friendly place and we have had no problems at all with the school. If you have work then the change is something to look forward to and being so close to the magnificent Whitsunday Islands you have two very different experiences.
Lake Proserpine (aka Peter Faust Dam) is located just 30 minutes from the charming town of Proserpine and is an ideal spot for camping, water sports and freshwater fishing. In fact, Lake Proserpine is renowned for having more barramundi over a metre in length than any other impoundment in Australia!
