Why You Should Get Out of Debt (2024)

It boggles my mind how some people are okay with being in debt. Debt sucks. It does nothing for us except keep us in debt. Debt just makes more debt. It makes no sense.

Debt doesn’t give us security, help us accomplish anything good and it can keep us from helping others. This is really an unpleasant way to live life.

So why do we do it? It’s easy, everyone else does it and we are constantly told we need to be in debt to get anywhere in life.

All freaking lies.

You should want to be in a f*** you situation. Yep, I said it.

This is something my husband and I dream about, talk about, slightly obsess about.

Money controls pretty much every facet of our lives. Since this is the case, wouldn’t you want to flip the script and take control of your money to work for you instead of it controlling you?

This is what we mean when we say “being in a f*** you situation.” You have zero debt, your income is yours, you can make choices based on what you want to do; not what you have to do.

You can live stress-free.

Think about all the stressors in your life. How many of those would be non-issues if you had enough money to take care of them, adjust them or eliminate them? I’m betting 90% of your stressors would be gone.

A financially stress-free life is THE DREAM. This is the way to live! No freaking worries. Just enjoy.

You can bless others.

This is probably the most exciting thing about not having any debt. You can help whoever you want without restrictions or worry about caring for your own family first.

My husband and I dream of paying off our church’s mortgage and helping support missions and giving a waitress a $1,000 tip whenever we feel like it. We can’t wait to be able to do this kind of stuff.

Blessing others does something to your heart to change you. Only good comes from it and we should want to do more of it when we are able.

When you have debt, you are limited in how much you can help others because you haven’t taken care of your mess yet. Without debt, you can start to really enjoy giving to others in a way that comes without guilt or reservations.

You can set up your next generation for success.

When you are in debt, your family sees that and learns that it’s okay. When you have no debt, your family will learn to navigate life without debt and how to build wealth.

You can show and teach your family how to build wealth so every generation builds upon the last and creates lasting wealth and freedom. How cool is that?

If I can become debt free to then have that impact my great granddaughter so she lives an amazing life using the same principles, what an amazing thing!

You will have the confidence to take risks you may not have otherwise taken.

When you are in debt, you will be hesitant in business and life to make bold decisions. If you have no debt, a good emergency fund, and a nice little nest egg, you may feel confident enough to make some decision that you may not have otherwise taken.

Maybe you try out some investments or real estate properties you would have previously been too nervous to try. When you have greater stability in your life, you will be more apt to try something that otherwise would have seemed a bit risky.

This could really benefit your business growth, career potential, and growth in your own life.

A life where you don’t answer to anyone, you make decisions based on what you want, not what your finances say you have to do and you get to have fun sounds so amazing.

This is why you should get out of debt. Someone comes along and wants to tell you how you should be living your life…no way. You will be in a position to simply say, “f*** you.”
