What Trusting God Looks Like — John Lynch Speaks (2024)

Today, I wanted to take a few moments to say that life is hard, but Jesus is not. Life is excruciating sometimes. It's frustrating, it's confusing, it's complicated, it's mysterious, but Jesus is not. One of the things I'm concerned about sometimes is that even in speaking about trusting God, it can sound like more work. Like something else I can fail at. Like another law, like something that could be fixed if I had enough willpower. It's not any of that.

It's never about how much trust you have.

Trusting God is simply this incredible permission to believe what He says is true about you, to believe that you are enough. To believe that somehow in the miracle of grace, the miracle of what Christ did at the cross and what God did in the resurrection is that He lives in me. Jesus lives in me. I am fully holy and righteous, fully beloved, fully enough. And I have the privilege, I have the delight, I have the permission and the invitation to believe that.

You don't even have to believe it really well.

You just get to believe.

So I'm longing for you, especially those of you who carry into this belief that you're not enough and that you need to do more, then everything would be solved; those who think if you could just believe Him enough and trust Him enough that you’ll get to hear Jesus saying, "I've already done it all, you just get to rest in it." And if you want to believe that, you may. If you don't believe it, it's very hard. If you don't believe it, it's a lot of work. But He knows the perfect timing. He knows that. You don't have to say, "Oh, no, I'm going to do it this time. This time I'm going to believe Him." He says, "Enough. Oh, my child, I am in you and you're right on time."

If you’ve ever felt like you weren’t enough, you won’t want to miss my five-part series entitled Am I Enough? In it we walk through five truths that when received and held onto, will absolutely transform your life! Check it out here:
