Stretch your legs and tour the city from a different perspective: on a bike. In 2004 Burbank transformed the town’s treasured railroad line into a two-mile biking trail that offers both residents and visitors a fantastic opportunity to experience a different side of the city. This trail takes you from Burbank to North Hollywood, winding through three art installations from the Burbank Art in Public Spaces that let you witness beautiful, unique murals along the journey. Aside from being an active space, the Chandler Bikeway also attracts The Sidewalk Astronomers every month who set up their telescopes along the trail to educate the public about astronomy.

2. Find Funny At Flappers

Flappers

Considering that comedy and entertainment are the pillars of Burbank’s identity, visiting the area without catching a comedy show is highly frowned upon. At Flappers Comedy Club and Restaurant, you can catch a load of laughs and some of the finest food in the city. Located in the heart of downtown, Flappers hosts more than 40 shows per week featuring comedy greats like Kevin Hart, Damon Wayans, Bill Burr, Felipe Esparza, and popular comics from Comedy Central, Conan, Letterman and others. Flappers is one of the only comedy clubs in the area where you can catch a show and have a full dinner, so make sure you come with an appetite for both good food and good comedy.

3. Saddle Up

One of the features that gives Burbank it’s timeless appeal is the Los Angeles Equestrian Center, located in Burbank’s Griffith Park. With the motto, “Everything Equestrian,” visitors can saddle up for a guided horseback ride through the park’s 50-miles of horse trails, watch acclaimed horse trainers at work, or check out one of several different horse shows. Because the park is also a central location for most major studios, you may even get the chance to see a live movie shoot.

Though often shadowed by Burbank’s popular Hollywood Bowl, the Starlight Bowl is actually favored by locals because of it’s pleasant atmosphere, small crowds, and remarkable lineup of shows. This open-air bowl hosts a prime summer concert season complete with a memorable July 4th concert and firework show. Pack a picnic dinner, blankets, and chairs, and catch a concert with family and friends. Better yet, the Starlight Bowl is the perfect stop for travelers on a budget, with tickets costing just $15 for adults and $8 for children.

5. Break At Bob’s Big Boy For A Burger

Notorious for their juicy burgers and creamy milkshakes, Big Boy’s legendary diner is also registered on California’s historical sights list. As the oldest remaining Big Boy in America, this classic diner offers visitors a blast-to-the-past with its 1950’s charm, complete with milkshakes served in stylish, large silver tin goblets and three types of co*ke – cherry, vanilla, and chocolate. Be sure to try Big Boy’s infamous double-decker hamburger and don’t leave before snapping a selfie with the larger than life statue of Mr. Big Boy.
