    What is the Limit on a UPI Mandate?

    The limit on a UPI mandate is INR 1 lakh (Available only with BHIM Axis Pay App) and on IPO Mandate is INR 5 lakh.

    What do I do when my UPI transaction has failed, but my bank account has been debited?

    In case of failed transactions, the money (if debited) will be credited to your account instantly. In case of timed out transactions, amount will be settled to the beneficiary account or debit account within two working days.

    What is Axis Pay?

    Axis Pay is an app with which you can send/receive money using any bank’s account, instantly using just a VPA / UPI ID. It works on Unified Payments Interface (UPI) which allows users to transfer money instantly without knowing the sender’s or receiver’s bank details. The money can be transferred by simply using VPA/ UPI ID.

    What is a VPA/ UPI ID?
    Does the VPA/ UPI ID necessarily have to end with @axisbank?

    Yes. All VPA/ UPI ID created in Axis Pay are suffixed with @axisbank

    What if someone has already created a VPA/ UPI ID using my name?

    The ID is unique to an individual. If the ID preferred by you has already been taken by someone else, you will have to create an alternate unique ID, which is easy to remember.

    What is UPI - Unified Payment Interface?

    UPI stands for Unified Payments Interface (UPI) which is platform provided by NPCI to facilitate inter-operability amongst various banks. It’s a one stop solution for multiple bank accounts , one app. It allows all account holders to send and receive money using their smartphones with a single identifier – virtual payments address( VPA)/ UPI ID – without entering any bank account information. Therefore, customers do not need to know the payee's or payer’s IFS Code ode, bank account details, etc. and this makes the process simpler.

    What can be a VPA/ UPI ID?

    A VPA/ UPI ID can be alphabetical, numeric or alphanumeric. It should be between 4-20 characters. It cannot contain any special characters (*,#,@ etc.) except dot(.) and hyphen(-) which are permissible. Your ID should be easy to remember such as yourname@axisbank or mobilenumber@axisbank

    How will I know whether the unique ID provided by the receiver is correct?

    When you add the receiver’s VPA/ UPI ID to send money, you can click on the “verify” button to get the complete name of the receiver as per his bank records.

    Who can use Axis Pay?

    Axis Pay can be used by both Axis Bank and other bank customers.

    What can you do using Axis Pay?

    The Axis Pay app allows you to Send or Ask for money using VPA/ UPI ID. You can link any bank account to the VPA/ UPI ID to send or receive money. Both Axis Bank and other Bank customers can also check their account balance on the app.

    Do the features available to Axis Bank and non-Axis Bank users vary on Axis Pay?

    No. The same features are available to both Axis Bank and other bank customers.

    On what platforms is Axis Pay UPI app available?

    Axis Pay UPI app is available on Android and iOS only.

    How long does it take to download the Axis Pay application?

    The actual download time depends on the speed of data connectivity offered by your mobile operator or internet provider.

    Can anyone else use the app on my smartphone?

    No. Axis Pay is user specific. It requires a 6 digit passcode to login to the app. For security reasons, you are requested not to share your Axis Pay Passcode with anyone.

    • Download the BHIM Axis Pay app from Google Play Storeor Apple Store
    • Auto SMS is sent from your mobile phone to Axis Pay. In case your phone has a dual SIM, select the preferred phone number registered with your bank.
    • Set a profile name and a unique 6 digit passcode for yourself
    • Select your preferred bank from the list
    • Create a unique Virtual Payment Address (VPA)/ UPI ID for the selected account
    • Verify the selected account using your Debit Card credentials and OTP
    • Set UPI PIN for the account. Use this UPI PIN for sending money to other Virtual Addresses (VPA)/ UPI ID
    If I delete/uninstall Axis Pay from my mobile phone by mistake, will I have to register again?

    Yes, you will have to download the app & register your details again.

    Will Axis Pay have a similar appearance on all phones?

    The appearance of Axis Pay may differ slightly on different phones, however, its functions and operations will remain the same, irrespective of the mobile handset being used.

    What if I change my mobile handset and want to use Axis Pay on the new device with the same number?

    In case you download and register on Axis Pay using a new device, Axis Pay installed on the old device automatically gets deactivated.

    How do I register to the application?
    • Download the Axis Pay app from Google Play Storeor Apple Store
    • A SMS will be automatically sent from your mobile phone to Axis Pay. In case your phone has a dual SIM, select the phone number registered with your bank.
    • Set a profile name and a unique 6 digit passcode
    • Select your preferred bank from the list
    • Create a UPI ID for the selected account
    • Verify the selected account using your Debit Card credentials and OTP. This is a one-time requirement.
    • Set PIN for the account. Use this PIN for sending money to other VPA/ UPI ID’s
    I am receiving an error message stating that ‘sorry, your request cannot be processed’ following which the application is not getting registered. What should I do in this case?

    This happens in the following scenarios:

    • The verification SMS has not been sent from the device
    • Network error
    • The device does not have a SIM.

    Please ensure that your phone has data connectivity. If the problem persists, please delete the application, download and try again

    What if I get disconnected or my mobile phone switches off while performing a transaction?

    You can simply reconnect to Axis Pay and verify your transaction history to check if the transaction has been executed before initiating a fresh transaction

    Can I access Axis Pay when I am on national roaming?

    Yes, as long as you have GPRS activated on your mobile number, subject to availability of the network, you can access Axis Pay anywhere in the country. Please keep in mind that you might be charged special roaming rates for using GPRS

    I have formatted my phone, what should I do to activate Axis Pay application again?

    You will have to download the application again from the Google Playstore or Apple Store and register

    Can I add my other bank accounts in BHIMAxis Pay?

    Yes, you can add any bank account in BHIMAxis Pay. The bank should be enabled on UPI

    What is the maximum transaction limit for sending money in BHIM Axis Pay?

    The maximum transaction limit for debit fund transfer/P2P(Person to Person) through BHIM Axis Pay is INR 1,00,000/- (Rupees One lakh) per transaction. The overall transaction limit within 24 hrs is also INR 1,00,000/- (Rupees One lakh) including all linked accounts in Axis Pay. Also, number of P2P (Person to Person) debit transactions allowed within 24 hrs is 20.

    Please note: New UPI users or users who have changed their device/Sim card can transact only upto INR 5,000/- within 24 hrs from registration (applicable for Android users and other OS). For iOS users, new user limit will be applicable for three consecutive days i.e. 72 hrs from registration with INR 5,000/- limit for 24 hrs each.

    Can I send money without setting a PIN?

    No, you cannot send money without setting a PIN for a particular bank account

    When will my account get debited when I send the money?

    The money will be debited instantly from your account

    I want to initiate an Ask request. Can I set an expiry time for the same?

    Yes, you can set the expiry time. You can set an expiry time from 1 day to 45 days, from the date of initiation of the transaction

    Where can I see all my past transactions?

    You can see your past transactions under 'Transaction Status ( older versions of the Axis Pay app) or My Transaction' available on the side menu of your app

    If I have an issue on a transaction that was done using BHIMAxis Pay, whom should I contact to resolve the same?

    You will find an option to raise your query for a transaction under the ‘Transaction Status(older version of the BHIMAxis Pay app) or My Transaction’ option available in the side menu.

    I do not have a virtual payment address/ UPI ID of the beneficiary. Can I still use BHIMAxis Pay to send money?

    Yes, you can transfer money using your account number and IFSC of the beneficiary, in case you do not have a unique ID of the beneficiary. However, sender /payer has to have a UPI ID while sending money through BHIMAxis Pay.

    How many accounts can be added to receive money?

    There is no limit to the number of accounts that can be added for receiving money.

    Is BHIMAxis Pay safe to use?

    BHIMAxis Pay allows all transactions to be at least 2 Factor Authenticated, making it completely safe and secure. Apart from this all your financial transactions have a daily transaction limit.

    How quickly can I onboard and start using BHIMAxis Pay?

    It’s a simple 3 step process to start using BHIMAxis Pay.

    • Download and Register on BHIMAxis Pay
    • Add any bank account and set a UPI ID
    • Verify your account and set a PIN
    • After this, you are all set to send and receive money using BHIMAxis Pay.
    Does the other party also need to have an BHIMAxis Pay App?

    No, the other party i.e. a receiver or sender need not be on BHIMAxis Pay. The other party can use any Bank’s UPI enabled application

    What kind of payments can be made using BHIMAxis Pay?

    You can use Axis Pay for sending or receiving money between people

    I do not have a virtual payment address/ UPI ID of the sender. Can I still use BHIMAxis Pay to ask money?

    No, you would need VPA of the sender to ask for money.

    Can I receive money without setting a PIN?

    Yes, you can receive money on your VPA/ UPI ID without setting PIN for the account linked to the VPA/ UPI ID

    I don’t remember my PIN for the account. What do I do?

    You can reset your UPI PIN using “FORGOT UPI PIN” feature in the app. The PIN changed in this app will change the PIN in all the UPI apps where this account is linked.

    How can I change MPIN for my account?

    You can change the MPIN for your account using “CHANGE MPIN” feature of the app. To do the same, go to menu and select “manage accounts ( old version of the Axis Pay app) or My Accounts”

    What is the 6 digit passcode?

    6 digit passcode is the app level password which you need to login to the app.

    Is UPI PIN and passcode same?

    No, UPI PIN is set for each bank account that you link in BHIMAxis Pay. You would need UPI PIN to authorize any transaction. Passcode is app level password which you set at the time of registration to login to the app. For Axis account, you would have to set 6 digit UPI PIN. It need not be same as 6 digit passcode

    How safe is UPI?

    All transactions on UPI are authenticated by 2 factor authentication. Debit transaction can only be initiated through your VPA/ UPI ID on your device and it requires an UPI PIN to authenticate the transaction. Regulated by NPCI. User shares his VPA/ UPI ID only instead of sensitive information like account details, IFS Code etc

    How different is UPI from wallets?

    There is no concept of loading in UPI. It’s direct account to account transfer using VPA/ UPI ID. No txn charges on BHIMAxis Pay. Wallets usually charge anything between 1 to 4 % for reversal of money from wallet to account. In UPI, money resides within the account itself, hence no scope of reversal as well as loading. Daily txn limit is 1 lakh which is higher than any wallet and is Inter-operable across any UPI app. A particular wallet wallet is not inter-operable with any other. Sender and receiver party have to have same wallet to transfer funds. Through UPI, sender and receiving party can choose to have any UPI app available today.

    Can UPI completely replace cash or cards?

    As the ecosystem of UPI progresses, it has the potential to replace cards as well as cash

    I downloaded BHIMAxisPay UPI, logged in and found a default VPA/ UPI ID linked to my Axis account. I want to change it. How to edit/delete it?

    As part of Axis Bank's Initiative towards digitization, a default VPA/ UPI ID has been created for all Mobile Banking customers of Axis Bank. You can edit/delete your pre-generated VPA/ UPI by following the below mentioned process:
    Process to be followed in case you are using an older version of BHIMAxis Pay UPI app.

    • Select “Manage accounts” in the side menu
    • Do a long press on the existing linked account containing pre-generated VPA/ UPI ID
    • Delete option would appear, click on delete
    • Now click on '+' sign and select Axis Bank
    • Account along with pre-generated VPA/ UPI ID will be automatically fetched
    • Click on the "VPA field" and do a backspace to delete the existing pre-generated VPA/ UPI ID and set a new VPA / UPI ID of your choice

    Process to be followed in case you are using a latest version of Axis Pay UPI app.

    • Select “My Account” in the side menu
    • Delete the existing linked account containing pre-generated VPA/ UPI ID
    • Now click on the '+' sign and select Axis Bank
    • Account will be fetched with ‘Set UPI ID’ option
    • Click on the "Set UPI ID" and set a new UPI ID of your choice
    How do I generate QR code in the BHIMAxis Pay UPI app?

    You can generate your customized QR code using the "My QR code" feature in the older version of the BHIMAxis Pay UPI app or through the ‘Generate QR Code’ option available in the latest version of BHIMAxis Pay UPI app. In the latest version of the BHIMAxis Pay UPI app, you can also generate the QR code from the pre-login page.

    How do I scan QR codes to send money?

    You can scan any UPI QR codes using "Scan & Pay" option available on the BHIMAxis Pay UPI app. .

    How can I recharge my prepaid mobile using BHIMAxis Pay UPI App?

    Select Recharge option, and then select mobile recharge option. Enter mobile number, select the operator, enter amount, Select Debit Account and enter the UPI PIN. Your prepaid mobile will be recharged.

    My service provider has been changed using Mobile Number portability. Can I still recharge using “BHIMAxis Pay UPI” app?

    Yes, you can use this service even if the service provider has changed using number portability. Please enter your new mobile operator and other details and submit.

    What is the limit for prepaid mobile recharge through “BHIMAxis Pay UPI” app?

    You can do a maximum recharge of Rs. 2000 through the app for a mobile number. Three successful recharges can be processed for the same Mobile Number per day. The overall recharge limit (Prepaid Mobile, DTH recharge) per account would be Rs. 5000 per day.

    Is there a limit to DTH recharge through “BHIMAxis Pay UPI” app?

    Maximum recharge amount is Rs 3000 per subscriber ID. Please check with the service provider for various recharge options available for DTH. Total three transactions can be processed for the same DTH number per day. The overall SMS recharge limit (Prepaid Mobile, DTH) per account would be Rs. 5000 per day.

    Will I be charged for prepaid mobile recharge or DTH recharge using “BHIMAxis Pay UPI” app?

    This facility is free of cost by Axis Bank. Charges may be applied by the mobile/DTH operator.

    How is this service different from the recharge service available on Axis Mobile Application or Axis Bank Internet Banking?

    For Recharge you can use any bank account enabled on UPI that is linked to your BHIMAxis Pay UPI app.

    What would happen if I enter an invalid/ postpaid/ DTH number while doing the recharge through “BHIMAxis Pay UPI” app?

    While doing Recharge, account is debited immediately. If you have entered an invalid number/ postpaid number, the amount will be credited back to your account within 4 working days.

    What if I recharge a wrong mobile number or DTH connection?

    You have to be careful while entering the mobile number / DTH subscriber ID for recharge. In case a wrong mobile number/ DTH subscriber ID has been recharged by mistake, the amount will not be reversed to your account.

    My account has been debited however my prepaid mobile number / DTH was not recharged?

    This could be due to various reasons like
    • Recharge denomination not available
    • Postpaid mobile number ( in case of mobile recharge)
    • Operator system not available

    In case your recharge is unsuccessful, the amount will be credited back to your account within 4 working days. Please check your account statement before reinitiating the transaction to ensure duplicate request is not processed.

    There has been a fraudulent activity in my account using UPI. What should I do ?

    How much amount customer can receive through BHIM Axis pay?
