    Get a quote online for cover up to $1.5 million, or for cover up to a maximum benefit of $3 million, call TAL on 1300 345 623.

  • Advanced payment benefit

    Receive an advanced payment of 25% of the benefit amount ($500,000 maximum), if you suffer permanent loss of use of a single limb or eyesight in one eye. Not available when structured through superannuation.

  • Child’s Critical Illness benefit

    Child’s Critical Illness benefit is included, which covers kids between 2 and 19 (at their next birthday) up to $10,000 if they suffer a specified critical illness event. Additional cover is available on application.

  • Guaranteed future insurability benefit

    You can apply to increase your cover by up to $200,000 without providing additional health information, when a significant life event occurs, such as marriage, childbirth, home-buying.

What is TPD?

If you have an illness or injury that leaves you permanently disabled and unable to work, Total & Permanent Disability (TPD) Insurance provides you with a lump sum payment that can help fund the cost of medical and rehabilitation treatment costs, debt repayments and other costs of living.

The cost of TPD Insurance may depend on your age, occupation, health, the amount of cover, the type of TPD benefit you hold (not limited to these factors). Premiums can be paid either annually or monthly. Call TAL on 1300 345 623to make a TPD Insurance enquiry.

Whether you need TPD insurance will depend on your personal circ*mstances. TPD insurance could provide valuable protection if you were to become totally & permanently disabled and unable to work due to illness or injury, if you have financial responsibilities, such as a mortgage, outstanding debts or your families living expense. If you’re unsure about whether TPD insurance is right for you, please speak to a financial adviser.

TPD insurance policies often usually have a waiting period. This is the period you must be totally and permanently disabled before becoming eligible to make a claim. Read the TAL PDS on the TAL website.

When making a claim, TAL will endeavour to make the claims process as easy as possible for you. Just call TAL on1800 101 016 and they can explain the claim requirements.

Note: TAL will generally begin evaluating your TPD insurance claim after you've been unable to work for three consecutive months. There are situations, like blindness or limb loss, where you might qualify for an immediate assessment.

^A maximum 15% Health Sense discount applies to lump sum premiums for non-smokers meeting the BMI criteria that hold 4 benefit types (Life; Critical Illness; TPD and Income Protection (IP)) and meeting minimum sum insured amounts for all benefit types. Lower discounts will apply for other benefit combinations and smokers. More information is available on request from TAL.
For customers with loadings, the Health Sense discounts apply to premiums including loadings (except loadings applied on a per-mille basis) and apply to Life Insurance, TPD Insurance and Critical Illness Insurance benefits only. Where a per-mille loading has been applied, the discount will not apply on additional premium resulting from the per-mille loading (an example of a per mille loading is $5.00 extra premium per $1,000 sum insured). Health Sense discounts only apply to Life Insurance, TPD Insurance and Critical Illness Insurance benefits only.
