It's the sole way Neopets runs its major activities, with the vast amount of the website's content being Flash-based. In 2020, it was confirmed Adobe would end support for the platform and shut it down completely on December 31, 2020.

We wanted to take a moment to address some of the rumours that have been swirling around. As many of you know, Jumpstart recently announced that it will be closing its doors beginning on June 30th, 2023. While we are devastated to see all of our friends at Jumpstart go, we want to assure you that Neopets will live on.

With the support for Adobe Flash ending in 2020, the Neopets Team announced in 2019 that it planned to transition Flash elements of the site to HTML5 by the end of 2020. The team prioritized popular features and some parts of the site are not functional.

Neopets Is Still Active In 2023, But It's Seen Better Days.

No, Neopets do not die.

But Neopets managed to survive. Sure, the site doesn't boast 3.4 million users anymore, but it still has a devoted fan base of 100,000 daily active users, many of them having played for more than 15 years.

Even if an account has been officially closed down, it still exists--it just can't be viewed. So over time, unused accounts pile up on the Neopets servers, taking up space.

Things like NeoQuest, the Battledome, the Kadoatery, the Neoboards, restocking, most dailies, and many more, were never Flash-based to begin with and can continue to be enjoyed after January 12, 2021.

Once a non-Neocash item is retired from the economy, its rarity is (usually) changed to 180. At this point, the item no longer stocks in the main Neopian Shops, nor is it (usually) given out through dailies or contests. Once an item is retired, you will only be able to obtain it by purchasing it from other users.

The Graveyard is home to all the old games that have been around since the start of Neopets. Some games are older versions of existing games, such as Meerca Chase and Destruct-O-Match.

You may only have five Neopets accounts.
