Appearance[]

Morpheus is a Goddess with light blue skin and wavy, black hair that falls to her elbows; she also has bangs. Two small wings sprout from either side of her head. Her body is boxier than other Goddesses seen thus far, giving her an firm appearance. Her nails are long and black.

Morpheus is seen wearing a long, form-fitting, sleeveless black tunic over a white undergarment. She is barefoot.

History[]

Morpheus is (likely) a Cthonic Goddess who resides in the Underworld; however, she tends to spend much of her time in the "unofficial" realm of sleep, dreams, and nightmares, which she says is a place between life and death. [1] Whereas her father presides over sleep in general, Morpheus looks after dreams and nightmares with the assistance of the Oneiroi.

At some point during Persephone's exile, Morpheus lost touch with her father, and in present can no longer feel his presence. Upon realizing this, she went to visit her grandmother Nyx for information, but as Nyx and most other residents of the Underworld had been put to sleep, she found no answers as to what had happened. She has been alone in the Underworld ever since. Morpheus is likewise unable to gain access to anyone's dreams.

She meets Zeus and Persephone in Episode 202; Zeus does not recognize her, as he says the sleep deities usually just "do their own thing."[1]

After Persephone fights Kronos after he escapes from Tartarus, she meets with Hades and Hecate after they seek her father, Hypnos, for information on what happened to him during the events that proceeded during Persephone's exile. There his father asks Hecate and Hades to take her with them as "she [has] been alone for too long, and needs experiences that he can't give her." It is unknown what happens to her afterwords, but seems to have a prospering friendship with Hecate.

Personality[]

Not much is known about Morpheus' personality thus far. She appears to be kind and caring and was concerned for Persephone's well-being when she was taken by Kronos even though they had just met. She is a little timid, and seems a bit nervous in general, but that is also likely due to her being trapped and alone in the Underworld with Kronos.

Relationships[]

Grandparents[]

Nyx[]

Morpheus (1)

There is little known about their relationship aside from the fact that Morpheus went to her grandmother for advice when she was unable to reach her father. She was devastated that she could not wake Nyx up. This most likely means that she has a close relationship or at least cares and has a positive relationship with her.

Parents[]

Hypnos[]

Morpheus appears to have a positive relationship with her father, Hypnos; she became very worried when she noticed his absence and has been looking for him ever since he disappeared.

Extended Family

Thanatos[]

There is no information regarding their relationship.

The Oneiroi[]

Morpheus oversees dreams and nightmares with their help. She has been unable to contact them since she was blocked from accessing that realm. It is unknown what happened to them after Persephone's exile.

Powers and Abilities[]

  • Morpheus can enter the realm of sleep, dreams, and nightmares, and while there, she can visit or at least view people's dreams; she has seen both Persephone and Zeus's "nighttime wonderings." [1]
  • She can also put people to sleep and guide them through dreams.[2]

Gallery[]

Trivia[]

  • Morpheus is Hypnos' son rather than his daughter in Greek Mythology.
  • Morpheus uses both she/her and they/them pronouns.
