Thanks so much for sharing all of this with us. I’m new to your blog and am totally blown away by the amazing content here.

    Definitely inspired!

And now I’m putting a massive desktop computer on my wish list!

Thank you so much, Stacy! I appreciate that. 🙂

OMG. I am a designer and a couple years ago I bought the 27in imac upgrading from my laptop. I cannot tell you how much better it is, theres so much space!! I now find it really difficult to work on my laptop now. I bet you’ll start getting so much more exciting stuff done now that you have a bigger screen 🙂

  4. Melyssa Griffin

    April 22nd, 2016 at 10:06 am

Lexi, that has been my EXACT experience too!! 🙂

It’s such a game changer right?? Best of luck to you Lexi 🙂

I am currently in the middle of creating my first e-course (!!!) and I have to say…I commend all of the hard work you do for your courses because geez this is hard! Ha. I’m sure it will get easier as I do it more and more but it’s so much work!

So the extra income stream I’m working on this month is definitely my e-course. Excited to launch in May!

  7. Melyssa Griffin

    April 22nd, 2016 at 10:07 am

Oh my goodness, Brittney. You should have seen me struggling while trying to create my first course. It took forever and I totally feel your pain! I’ve gotten a little better at it now (but not much). Mainly, the thing that pushes me forward is knowing that I’ll get to help a lot of people and I’ll be creating something that I can sell over and over again. That’s always fun! 🙂

Love the transparency. I’ve been following you for a while now and I am stoked on your triumphs. It’s been motivating to say the least! Cheers!

That is so kind of you, Mia. Thank you! 🙂

I’m curious, why do you have two email software systems? I noticed both ConvertKit and Infusionsoft in your expense list above. I also saw somewhere on your site a link to a Mailchimp optin. Do you use all three for different purposes? I’m curious to know!

  11. Melyssa Griffin

    April 21st, 2016 at 7:38 pm

haha good question! The biggest reason I still have Mailchimp is because there were a bunch of places within my old site design where there were Mailchimp forms that I didn’t know how to change. So, they’d go to Zapier and then to Infusionsoft. Now, all of the forms lead to Infusionsoft, so I just need to find any traces of Mailchimp in past posts (like content upgrades) and then I’ll be all finished on MC. I also had a credit with ConvertKit (from a webinar bundle I bought a long time ago), so I didn’t have to pay for it for a few months. This month’s payment is because my credit ran out and I didn’t realize it. I’ve canceled my account over there now.

So, nothing strategic. Mostly just I need to consolidate everything into Infusionsoft!

So much good info here, Melyssa – thank you for sharing it with us! I couldn’t help giggling when you mentioned getting the massive desktop computer, though – I came at things from the opposite direction, as I have had a desktop computer for years, both for work and as an avid gamer, and the laptop came second for me. They definitely both have their advantages! 😀 Welcome to the 27-inch monitor club.

  13. Melyssa Griffin

    April 22nd, 2016 at 10:08 am

haha that’s awesome Victoria! I was thinking of selling my 15-inch laptop for a more travel-friendly 11-inch, but I don’t know if I could handle that haha.

Super interesting how you slice and dice your income and have a “passive” category. I like that. We do “three legs of blog income” with products, affiliate revenue, and ad revenue. More and more, the ad “leg” is kinda useless. Maybe I should re-evaluate how I break down our income.

I’m super intrigued about funnels for higher-end products. I feel like I have funnels for a lower priced ($25,$50,$75) nailed down but I need to figure out our funnels for our new higher priced course. I’m guessing the strategy will be different but I’m not sure how yet…

It’s been fun following your journey!

  21. Donnie Lawson

    April 22nd, 2016 at 6:45 am

Also, I’m listening to Abby right now on Facebook Live and she’s talking about how she learned so much from you about Pinterest, specifically the idea of making a vertical Pinterest-friendly image for a lot of our lead magnets and free email courses. Such a simple thing but we never thought of it until we learned it from you!

  22. Melyssa Griffin

    April 22nd, 2016 at 10:12 am

Ahh that’s so awesome to hear!! And super sweet of Abby to mention me. 🙂

    April 24th, 2016 at 5:06 am

Is it Abby from http://www.justagirlandherblog.com ? She also mention you on her email ( i subscribe to her mailing list ) cant wait to join your Pinfinite Growth >.< * but i need to narrow down my focus and pick a niche first and start posting hahahaa

  24. Melyssa Griffin

    April 22nd, 2016 at 10:12 am

So interesting to hear how different people categorize it! One of my big goals is to really maximize the completely passive income I have coming in, which is why I like to keep track of the progress.

I also recently launched a new evergreen webinar funnel for a $350 product and it’s converting like crazy. Happy to help if you’re interested in setting one up!

Congratulations on your great success! <3 You are so hard working and deserve all that you have. Thank you for sharing this and helping me get back on track with my blog! It can be stressful and tiring sometimes and I am the worst at planning out my day but I know that all I need to do is go back on The Blog Hive and look over the organization module 😉 Hope you have a lovely day!

  27. Brenda Carey

    April 22nd, 2016 at 7:13 am

Hi! I love your posts, and I was just curious how you would define your niche?

  28. Melyssa Griffin

    April 22nd, 2016 at 10:13 am

Thank you Brenda! 🙂 I define it mainly by the people I help: bloggers and online entrepreneurs. I mainly include posts that help them grow their audience and monetize.

  29. Brenda Carey

    April 25th, 2016 at 6:07 am

    Thanks for responding!!
I love the topics that you cover and I find that I have a passion for learning about them. I market for a B2B company during the day and I’m started to become more and more inspired to start a blog about different tactics in the marketing world and applying them to blogging, etc. I think I could come up with some good content, but I’m afraid that I won’t be able to grow a blog since – in the beginning – I feel like I would lack credibility during the initial growth phase since people would come to my site, read a post of tips, but then notice that the blog is still small and then they would question why there isn’t more growth/engagement and then never return (hahaha). Do you have any tips on how to push through that initial growth stage or how to build credibility when you’re first starting out and have little to no audience??

Sorry, this is such a rambly post!! I really admire your blog and success and figured I would ask 🙂 .

  30. Carolyn Selheim-Miller

    April 22nd, 2016 at 10:19 am

Gah this is awesome! Quesiton: when you refer to Webinar income vs. Launch income, is the webinar number people who purchased directly via the link in a webinar? Vs. form within a launch email or the sales page? Just always curious why people break out the webinar income from the rest of the launch.

  31. Melyssa Griffin

    April 22nd, 2016 at 1:44 pm

Hey Carolyn! The webinar income is income generated specifically from webinars (either from people purchasing during the live webinar or during the webinar follow-up email sequence for webinar registrants). I use different links for webinars so that I can track it.

I separate my income like that because I’m always trying to keep track of which strategies are bringing me the highest ROI and where I should place more of my focus. 🙂

I’ve been eyeballing those 27″ iMacs for a while now. I’m still on the fence because I can take my laptop all over the house and work wherever feels best in the moment. I worry about feeling limited, but… SO MUCH SCREEN REAL ESTATE!

  33. Sara Mitchell

    April 22nd, 2016 at 2:48 pm

you killed it this month Melyssa! and Pinfinite Growth has been such a great course. I definitely plan to implement the strategies when I rebrand this summer and really start to take my brand / blog seriously (so far it’s been more of a hobby).

  34. Desiree Fawn

    April 22nd, 2016 at 8:12 pm

Oh man. I eye-hump the big iMacs every single time I see them in store. One of these days I’m going to cave! Ha!

  35. Melyssa Griffin

    April 23rd, 2016 at 5:32 pm

hahaha I’ve never heard the expression “eye hump” but I need to add it to my vocabulary STAT.

  36. Linda Ogier

    April 23rd, 2016 at 1:30 am

Melyssa, every one of these posts gives me hope! I’m not in the right niche to make mega bucks, but I’d love a little extra per month or fortnight…. that would make my life a lot easier! I’m a teacher (like you), but still in the system. I’d love to earn enough to go part time. I’ve really enjoyed List Surge, and plan on getting PG at some point! All your free stuff has helped immensely too. And, I have to say, your new digs are looking pretty gorgeous. The blue couch has some artwork behind it and a beautiful fig plant now! I also happen to love the table you have as a desk. All ’round inspiring! Your FB group has also been super helpful. Thanks again and keep rockin your amazing success!

Whoa! The income is crazy! I literally have no idea how I could get there. I did create a product but only 1 purchase so far. I need to push it more. I also need to look into affiliate links. Congrats on your success! will you be doing any consulting?

  40. Melyssa Griffin

    April 25th, 2016 at 8:23 am

Question about your new website (looks amazing!!): I noticed there wasn’t an expense for it? Maybe I missed it in a past report?

    Thanks for being awesome!

That’s awesome, Melissa! I’m rooting for you. 🙂

Good question and observation about the new website! I actually designed it myself and then worked out a collaboration with the developer so he ended up installing the design for free. So, it actually didn’t cost anything!

    May 2nd, 2016 at 11:58 am

This is fascinating, you DOUBLED your income over last month. Ummm, huge! I’d be interested to learn more about what you think contributed to that, in terms of knowing what you needed to do to make it happen. I know a lot of people who see a huge increase in income like that attribute a lot of it to hiring a biz coach, do you think that’s the same for you? Still thinking of hiring one myself. Thank you for being so transparent, this is super inspiring!

  66. Melyssa Griffin

    May 2nd, 2016 at 12:54 pm

Hi Savanna! Thank you so much for the encouragement. 🙂 I would say that the big spike this month was due to the re-launch of one of my programs, Pinfinite Growth. My income is usually a bit bigger during months where I’m launching something. 🙂

    May 2nd, 2016 at 3:56 pm

Congrats on this fantastic launch! Also, love your site. Great info and super helpful. I did have a quick question related to your course launch. Was it all done on teachable, or did you utilize everwebinar for it also (do they work together as hosting/distribution)? So was it live and recorded, then available evergreen, or just recorded, put together on teachable and launched? And were the 2 pre-webinars you did on webinarjam or something similar? Thanks in advance…just so much info on your site its a little hard to keep everything straight 🙂 Keep up the awesome work!

  68. Melyssa Griffin

    May 3rd, 2016 at 7:51 pm

Thank you so much! The launch was all done through Teachable. EverWebinar is a different type of program, which allows you to create evergreen webinars. All of the e-course videos were prerecorded, uploaded to the Teachable site, and sold as a complete course during the launch. The 2 webinars were actually done using Google Hangouts and LeadPages. 🙂

So you kind of snuck in my “things I buy as a blogger” suggestion with the massive computer. Sheeshhhhhhhhh 27 inches? Congratulations!!! I’m doing a roundup of incomes and I wrote that you were up to $30,000 only to come back and see that I was wrong! Why make the Snap @nectarcollect (following you now)? Aren’t you moving more toward MelyssaGriffin?

  77. Melyssa Griffin

    May 9th, 2016 at 7:30 pm

haha thank you! It’s definitely a great computer to have around. 🙂

And yeah, unfortunately Snapchat doesn’t allow you to change your username yet, so I’m stuck with @nectarcollect for the time being. Hopefully they’ll come out with a username changing option in the future, like the rest of the social media sites. 🙂

Hey, Melyssa. What is Launch Revenue?

  79. Melyssa Griffin

    May 12th, 2016 at 3:29 pm

Hi Aurora! Good question. “Launch Revenue” is the revenue I made from relaunching Pinfinite Growth.

  80. Aurora Afable

    May 12th, 2016 at 3:48 pm

What did you do exactly when you say that you relaunched it? Is this like a one-time class?

Hi Melyssa, I just started learning your courses. Actually, I would like to make my own E-courses like you in near future. Therefore, I am just curious that how many people you work with. Do you have your team? or vertual assistance you have? I would be glad if you share about that. Thanks!

  85. Melyssa Griffin

    October 21st, 2016 at 10:26 am

Hey Mari! I do have a team that I lean on during different parts of my course launches. I share a little bit about them in my August Income Report post, which you can find right here:

    https://www.melyssagriffin.com/august-2016-income-report/

Once I was able to, creating a team was the best thing I’ve done for my business. I’m able to delegate the tasks that I’m not very good at or that take a lot of my time so now I’m able to focus on more creation and bigger picture tasks. I hope that helps and please let me know if you have any other questions at all. 🙂

Wow, congrats on the growth! I want to start a similar venture but focused more on helping entrepreneurs with learning, using, and building new technology. I’m just wondering, do you ever find yourself challenged with understanding how to use your applications? For example, Zapier or Infusionsoft? Also, do you have any tips for early revenue streams that could be easier to get live? I plan to create courses, but I’m currently just consulting and don’t have the runway to put my focus on a course yet. Thanks!

  89. Melyssa Griffin

    November 17th, 2017 at 2:55 pm

Hi Cameron, appreciate your kind words! 🙂 Your idea sounds great and you should absolutely run with it. I learned how to use Zapier and Infusionsoft over time, but I recommend watching as many tutorial videos as you can, and learn by doing. You’ll get the hang of it as you go. Infusionsoft is great, but not a platform I’d recommend for beginner entrepreneurs (ConvertKit is a nice, intermediate alternative). I think the most important thing to start with before you focus on revenue is building a healthy subscriber base and creating valuable content. As soon as you have 500-1,000 subscribers, you could send them a survey to get some of your ideas validated.
