As the largest JW in the world, the JW Marriott Indianapolis has become iconic to the skyline of downtown Indianapolis, perhaps thanks to its hosting of the Super Bowl XLVI. The landmark hotel is considered the crown jewel of the $450 million Marriott Place complex with a total of five Marriott hotels connected to the Indiana Convention Center.
Indy Location
Whether you’re staying for business or pleasure, you’ll appreciate the location of the JW Marriott Indianapolis. Surrounded by the 250-acre White River State Park, this property offers walkable access to the second-largest urban park in the nation. This urban green space is also home to the city’s museums, attractions, and a canal offering plenty of activities.
Arrival Experience at JW Marriott Indianapolis
I knew it would be a big property, but until I stepped through the doors, it was difficult to imagine the size of this sprawling property. To the right of the entrance is the lobby bar, and to the left is the on-site sports bar and restaurant. The escalator is also to the left, leading to the 103,000 square feet of meeting space and the Convention Center, explaining the mass of conventioneers.
Concierge Lounge at the JW Marriott Indianapolis
Often with this massive size, the staff can be, well, not as welcoming. Yet from the moment I entered, the JW Marriot Indianapolis staff was exceptionally friendly. I was greeted with a smile and quickly pointed to the front desk.
There was a short line, but within minutes, the receptionist checked me in and handed me my room key. When I declined the service of a bellboy, instead of pointing me to the elevator, the receptionist came from behind the desk and walked me to the correct elevator.

Accommodations
Without the escort of the front desk staff, maneuvering the two elevators leading to the 1,005 rooms on different floors might be confusing. However, once in your room, the typical Marriott brand rooms are super comfortable and spacious. Mine was a king bed and definitely roomy, but I appreciated most the oversized work desk right near the window. I found myself drawn multiple times to the view of White River State Park, while other rooms have views of downtown Indy or Victory Field.
Dining at JW Marriott Indianapolis
Several on-site dining options are available at the JW Marriott Indianapolis.
High Velocity is an upscale sports bar just off the lobby. After a long day of airports and flights, I found High Velocity to be a perfect location to kick back, watch the Broncos on the multiple TVs, all while sipping a local brew and enjoying a burger.
The Lounge Bar is also on the first floor, with casual seating in comfortable, overstuffed chairs and sofas, or at high-top tables with bar seats. There’s a great wine list, and an opportunity to order from any of the hotel restaurants.

Also on site is the fine-dining Italian cuisine of Osteria Pronto. For your morning coffee, go to the second floor for a caffeine fix at the Starbucks.
For foodies, the chance to explore the city’s burgeoning culinary cuisine is also within walking distance, including the signature spicy shrimp co*cktail at the renowned 1902 St. Elmo Steak House.
