Entry, Exit and Visa Requirements

You do not need a visa for tourist travel up to 90 days. All other travelers will need a visa and/or work permit. Visit the Jamaican Passport, Immigration, & Citizenship Agency of Jamaica or the Embassy of Jamaica in Washington D.C. websites for the most current visa information.

The Duration of a Jamaica Visa

So, if you apply for a: Short-stay visa, you can stay in Jamacia for one to six months. The short-stay visa is issued for tourism, visits, business meetings, etc. However, you can not stay in Jamacia for longer than three months with a short stay-visa.

Immigration officers will generally grant visitors to Jamaica visitor landed status for 90 days. You must seek an extension if you are planning to stay up to an additional 90 days. You may request an extension at any immigration office. For stays beyond 90 days, you will require a visa.

To move to Jamaica, you must apply for a long-stay visa. With a long-stay visa, you can stay up to one year. They are mostly issued for work, study, family reunification, etc. To apply for a long-stay visa, you must also apply for a residence permit.

Entry requirements (visa/passport)

All visitors are required to be in possession of a national passport or other acceptable travel document establishing nationality and identity, and bearing a photograph. The passport or other travel document must be valid for at least six (6) months from the intended date of travel.
