Jamaica Visa Requirements

To apply for a Jamaican visa, you need to submit the following documents:

  • Valid passport. Your passport must be valid at least three months after the return date. Make sure your passport is in good condition and include a copy of previous visas (if any).
  • Two passport-sized photos. Your photos must be taken within the last six months on a light background, and they must be with colors.
  • Application form. Fully complete the application form. Make sure you do not leave any blank spaces.
  • Fee payment. When submitting the documents, you can finish your fee payment at the embassy/consulate. When applying for the first time, the fee payment for your visa application is JM$10,000.00 Approx. USD$64.54.
  • Health insurance. Document proof that you have valid health insurance. The health insurance must cover any medical problem that you can have while in Jamaica.
  • Bank statement. This document needs to prove that you are financially stable and can finance yourself while staying in Jamaica.
  • Criminal record. This is a document issued from your country’s policy, and it must prove that you are not a threat to the Republic of Jamaica.
  • Accommodation proof. This document needs to prove that you have a place to stay in Jamaica. Depending on the purpose of your stay, this document can be a letter of invitation, a rental agreement, a hotel reservation, etc.
  • Letter of invitation. The letter of invitation is a document issued by your family members or friends staying in Jamaica. This document proves that you have a place to stay in Jamaica.
  • Flight itinerary. The flight itinerary is a document that includes your flight date and time, your airplane ticket, the name of the airline company, etc.

How to Apply for a Jamaica Visa?

To apply for a Jamaica visa, you need to fulfill the following steps:

  1. Contact the nearest embassy/consulate of Jamaica in your home country and book an appointment.
  2. Fill out the application form. You can obtain the application form at the Jamaican embassy. Make sure you fully complete it with your personal details.

Applying for a Jamaica Visa on Arrival

Make sure you have the following documents when you apply for a Jamaica visa at the port of entry:

  • Valid Passport. Your passport must be valid at least three months after the return date, in good condition, and it must have at least two blank pages.
  • Bank Statment. This is a document proving that you are financially stable and can finance yourself while in Jamaica.
  • Return flight ticket. This is a document proving that you will return to your home country when your visa expires.
  • Any additional documents depending on the reason for your trip, such as hotel reservation, business letter of invitation, etc.

Note: The decision regarding your length of stay in Jamaica depends on the Immigration Officer at the port of entry in Jamaica. This applies whether or not a visa is a prerequisite for entry.

The Duration of a Jamaica Visa

Residence Permit for Jamaica

If you want to stay longer than six months in Jamaica, you need to apply for a residence permit. A residence permit allows you to stay in Jamaica legally for five years. Follow these steps when applying for a Jamaica residence permit:

  • Apply for a visa at the nearest embassy/consulate of Jamaica in your home country.
  • After entering Jamaica, book an appointment at the Agency’s Investigation and Surveillance Unit to apply for a residence permit.
  • Gather and submit all the requested documents. All the documents you submit must be originals. Make sure you attend your appointment on time because you may be asked to be interviewed by the Agency’s Investigation and Surveillance Unit.
  • Wait for a response. You shall receive a response to your residence permit application within three to six months for your residence permit result.
