My civil status in the RNI is not correct
If you moved from the Netherlands to another country and deregistered with your municipality, your civil status (e.g. whether you are married or in a registered partnership) as it was at that time was transferred to the RNI. After that, this data is not updated. It is only updated if you register in the Netherlands again.
Attention: If your civil status had already changed before you moved abroad and it was not correctly transferred to the RNI, you can contact the last municipality you lived in in the Netherlands about this.
My civil status is not recorded in the RNI
If you registered at an RNI desk or if a government organisation registered you in the RNI, your civil status is not recorded in the RNI. And you cannot add it.
Do you need proof of your civil status?
If you need proof of your civil status – to show that you may get married, for instance – find out how to apply for a certificate of marital status or proof of capacity to marry in the country where you live. Find out from the authority requesting the document what type of document can be used for this purpose and what requirements it must meet.
To change, add or delete an email address in the RNI, you can make an appointment at any of the 19 municipalities in the Netherlands with an RNI desk. You must appear at the RNI desk in person.

If you registered at an RNI desk or if a government organisation registered you in the RNI, then no data about your children is recorded in the RNI (this includes information about your parental responsibility). And you cannot add it.
Do you need proof of parental responsibility or of acknowledgement of parentage?
If you need proof of parental responsibility or of acknowledgement of parentage, you can use the child’s birth certificate or a declaration of acknowledgement of parentage stating that you are the child’s parent. Find out from the authority requesting the document what type of document can be used for this purpose and what requirements it must meet.
How can I get a birth certificate for my child if I live outside the Netherlands?

To change the name the authorities use to address you in their correspondence to you, you must contact the last municipality you lived in in the Netherlands. The only change you can make is to revert to using a previous name (such as your surname at birth).
