The dead bodies kept in open can become breeding grounds for diseases. What if a dead body remains unclaimed or it’s taking time for the loved ones to arrive? Storing the deceased person in the mortuary freezer box can decrease the decomposition process.
Storing procedure
The body is sealed in a cadaver pouch (a dead body punch which is non porous). It is then freezed at a temperature of 4 C until the loved ones arrive or postmortem is required. The body has the toe tag which helps in identifying the dead person. The freezer body maintains the ideal condition required for the body. The dead body is disinfected before the storage to reduce the chances of infection.
The mortuary workers who perform the process are exposed to the germs. They were face mask, hand gloves, body suit, apron and boot to avoid direct content with the dead body.
