The Chevrolet Motor Car Company was founded on November 3, 1911 in Detroit. It was co-founded by Louis Chevrolet, a Swiss race car driver and automotive engineer, and William C. Durant, the ousted founder of General Motors.

Chevrolet would debut their first production model in 1913, at the New York Auto Show. The model they revealed was the Series C Classic Six–designed by Etienne Planche, and based on plans laid out by Louis Chevrolet.

Chevrolet is a proudly American brand founded way back at the dawn of the automobile in November of 1911, and it continues to focus much of its attention on the American market. The name itself comes from Louis Chevrolet, co-founder of the Chevrolet Motor Company.

The Ford Motor Company was the first brand as it was founded in 1903 by the very famous Henry Ford. Eight years later, Louis Chevrolet and William Durant started Chevrolet in 1911 and three years later in 1914 the Dodge brothers, Horace Elgin Dodge and John Francis Dodge, founded the “Dodge Brothers” brand.

In 1913, Chevrolet co-founder William C. Durant introduced the signature Chevy bowtie on the 1914 Chevrolet H-2 Royal Mail and the H-4 Baby Grand, centered at the front of both models. Sixty million Chevrolets are on the roads worldwide today and the bowtie has adorned 215 million Chevrolets over the last century.

On January 29, 1886, Carl Benz applied for a patent for his “vehicle powered by a gas engine.” The patent – number 37435 – may be regarded as the birth certificate of the automobile. In July 1886 the newspapers reported on the first public outing of the three-wheeled Benz Patent Motor Car, model no. 1.

The cheetah is a great name for a flamboyant sports vehicle with a striking external appearance, and this 1963 Chevrolet model is named after it.
