History
This light-duty truck was officially introduced in 1999, and it shares many similarities with its brother, the GMC Sierra. The Silverado 1500 came with a complete redesign in 1999, prompting the new name, and it had a distinct Quadrasteer system, new HVAC controls, and a revamped look.
The Silverado SS, a high-performance pickup available to the general public, is one notable variation introduced in 2003. This came with a 6.0-liter Vortec engine that was rated at 345 horsepower and paired with a four-speed transmission. All-wheel drive was adopted three years later, as well as a special Z60 performance suspension and 20-inch alloy wheels.
Today
The third and current generation shares many similarities with the second generation.
