Gjallarhorn - Exotic Rocket Launcher - Destiny Guide - IGN (2024)

Gjallarhorn is an exotic rocket launcher in Destiny. It's Year One variant can be obtained from Year One activities that have the chance to drop Exotic items. The Year Three/Rise of Iron version can only be obtained through a series of quests.

Primary Perk

  • Wolfpack Rounds: Rounds fired from this weapon will split into tracking cluster missiles upon detonation.
  • Tracking: Shells fired from this weapon track their targets.

Secret Perk

  • Grenades and Horseshoes: Rockets from this weapon will detonate early based on proximity to their targets.

Selectable Perk 1

  • Speed Reload: Reload this weapon quickly.
  • Quickdraw: This weapon can be drawn unbelievably fast.
  • Snapshot: Aiming this weapon is incredibly fast.

Selectable Perk 2

  • Confined Launch: Greatly reduced recoil. Significant penalty to Velocity.
  • Soft Launch: Increased recoil: Boost to Velocity.
  • Smart Drift Control: Predictable and controllable recoil. Penalty to Velocity.

How to Get a Gjallarhorn

As mentioned above, the Year One version of this exotic launcher can be acquired by completing quests that have a chance to drop an exotic engram.

The Year 3 Gjallarhorn can be acquired only after completing the Rise of Iron Quest, as well as the Beauty in Destruction quest line.

Scan the Anomaly

After completing the Rise of Iron quest, you can trigger a special Anomaly Patrol mission in the Plaguelands. After completing that patrol objective, Echoes of the Past, return to the Iron Temple and speak to Lord Saladin and Tyra.

Collect Iron Medallions

Return to the Plaguelands to collect the

There are seven of these and they are as follows:

  • Archon's Keep: Near the entrance to the Archon's Forge.
  • Lords' Watch: To the right of where you spawn in a small building.
  • Bunker Triglav: Inside a room on the left side when facing the way you entered Bunker 02.
  • Giant's Husk: On the upper area with all the storage containers.
  • Forgotten Pass: On the bridge.
  • Site 6: Back to the left of where the doorway that leads to the SIVA complex is.
  • Felwinter Peak: When facing the temple, it's on the left side up on the rocks.

Return to Tyra at the Iron Temple.

Complete A Symbol of Honor

Head to the city of Bannerfall in the Cosmodrome and complete the mission A Symbol of Honor. Once complete, return to the temple and speak to Tyra once more.

Collect Dormant Siva Clusters

In order to continue researching the Y3 Gjallarhorn, Tyra needs 5 Dormant Siva Clusters. They can be found around the Plaguelandsand one on Mars.

After collecting all five, return to Lord Saladin at the Iron Temple.

Complete Beauty in Delivery

Return to a remote section of the Cosmodrome and complete the mission Beauty in Delivery to unlock your Gjallarhorn.

Iron Gjallarhorn Skin

For players who pre-ordered Rise of Iron or purchased Destiny: The Collection, a low-damage Iron Gjallarhorn is available at the postmaster when they first launch the expansion.

The Beauty in Destruction questline must be completed, and the Year 3 Gjallarhorn can be infused into the Iron Gjallarhorn.
