Titus Steel’s Dynamic Armor 600® ballistic steel plate is an ultra-high hardness ballistic steel plate product that is available in thicknesses from 3/16” through 5/8” (4.7mm through 15.8mm). This specialty plate product is specifically designed for lightweight armor applications that require maximum protection & resistance to ballistic threats. Dynamic Armor 600 plate exhibits a superior combination of ballistic resistance, hardness, and flatness. Dynamic Armor 600 steel plate is produced using an optimum combination of carbon and alloy content, to offer a maximum resistance to ballistic penetration.

Flatness
Dynamic Armor 600® ballistic steel plate is produced to ½ ASTM A6 Commercial Flatness Tolerances.
Production Size Capacity
Dynamic Armor 600® ballistic steel plate is produced in thicknesses from 3/16” (4.7mm) through 5/8” (15.8mm) and in widths from 60” through 96”. Standard thicknesses include 3/16”, ¼”, 5/16”, 3/8” ½”, and 5/8”. Maximum length is 580”. Standard pattern widths and lengths are 96” x 288”, 96” x 240” and 96” x 480”. Metric and other sizes are available on inquiry (* – inquire on 3/16”, ¼” and 5/16” sizes for availability).
Thermal Cutting
Dynamic Armor 600® plate can be thermally cut using conventional methods of laser, plasma, and oxy-fuel cutting techniques provided that the following guidelines are followed. For thicknesses ranging from 3/16” – 5/16”(4.76mm – 7.93mm), a minimum plate temperature of 65°F (18°C) is recommended prior to cutting. For thicknesses greater than 5/16”(7.93mm), a preheat temperature of 250°F (121°C) is recommended.
Cold Forming
Forming of the Dynamic Armor 600® ballistic steel plate is not recommended due to the extremely high material hardness and strength.
Welding
Dynamic Armor 600® plate can be welded using conventional welding practices such as SMAW, GMAW and SAW provided austenitic stainless filler metal is used in conjunction with the low hydrogen welding practices. Interpass temperatures should not exceed 400°F (205°C) and postweld heat treatment is not recommended if the original hardness levels are to be maintained.
Applications
Dynamic Armor 600® ballistic steel plate is used in a variety of lightweight armor applications where maximum protection and resistance to ballistic threats is critical such as: armored personnel carriers, tanks, tactical combat vehicles, armored municipal & government vehicles, personal armored cars, armored cabs, bullet proof vest inserts, turret gunner shields, etc.
