After careful trial and error with most of the skills, I want to share with you my top 3 most favorite skills. I feel that as we journey towards 2024, the pursuit of expertise in Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Python will be life changing for most of you, if not all. With these 3 skills, it is not just about financial gain; it’s about shaping the future and making an impact in the tech world. — In this piece, I explore the importance of these skills, discover some compelling statistics to support my understanding, and share my own experience about learning these 3 high paying skills.

Before I talk about any other skill, I want to shed some light on Machine Learning, which is known to be “Your Gateway to Predictive Intelligence”.

If you’re new and have no idea what this is, don’t worry! Machine Learning, in essence, empowers computers to learn from data, adapt, and make predictions, all without explicit programming. Its influence extends far and wide, touching industries such as finance, healthcare, and e-commerce. For me, Machine Learning is not just a skill but a passion, and not just because of how mentally engaging this skill is but also because LinkedIn’s Emerging Jobs Report consistently ranks Machine Learning engineers among the top.

Why I think it’s an important skill to have is because of 2 main reasons: its predictability and personalization! For me, the beauty of Machine Learning lies in the fact that it enables businesses to make decisions based on data, enhancing efficiency and ultimately boosting the bottom line. While also, tailoring product recommendations, content, and experiences online.

Not just that, statistically it has been proven to be one of the most high paying skills to learn. According to Glassdoor, the average base salary for Machine Learning engineers in the United States exceeds $112,000 annually and The Bureau of Labor Statistics anticipates a 22% job growth rate for Computer and Information Research Scientists, including Machine Learning professionals, from 2020 to 2030.

Next up: Artificial Intelligence (AI), also known to be ‘Your Ticket to Automation and Innovation’. Artificial Intelligence, the technology that endows machines with human-like intelligence, has taken center stage in the world of automation and innovation. It’s not just about job opportunities; it’s about playing a part in shaping the future. The potential for AI to transform industries is truly boundless. The way it simplifies processes, automates repetitive tasks, and improves operational efficiency across various sectors. While also handling massive datasets, extracting insights, and helping businesses make informed decisions is incredilbe.

As per statistics, AI Engineers are paid more than Machine Learning Engineers. Indeed reports that AI Engineers in the United States can command an average base salary of approximately $130,000 per year. Whereas, a World Economic Forum report forecasts that AI and related roles will create 97 million new jobs globally by 2025.

Which brings me to the 3rd most important skill, I think everyone needs to learn before 2024 and that is Python. Python is known to be the Swiss Army Knife of Programming so you can already anticipate its importance, can’t you?

Python, with its simplicity, versatility, and extensive library of modules, has won the hearts of programmers worldwide. It’s not just another programming language; it’s your ticket to the world of Machine Learning and AI. For me, Python is where it all started, and I’ve seen firsthand how this language opens doors to high-paying fields. I believe its versatility is what makes it a swiss army knife of programming because Python isn’t just for AI; it’s used in web development, data analysis, scientific computing, and more. Therefore, Stack Overflow’s Developer Survey consistently ranks Python as one of the most beloved and in-demand programming languages.

That being said, let’s explore some credible sources to learn these skills:

  • Coursera offers “Machine Learning” by Andrew Ng, a renowned AI and Machine Learning expert. I found his teaching style relatable and effective.
  • edX provides a “Professional Certificate in Artificial Intelligence” program from IBM, which covers the essentials of AI. IBM’s reputation for innovation speaks to me on a personal level.
  • The Complete Python, Machine Learning, AI Mega Bundle+” is personal favorite as it covers all these skills in the right amount of detail, while not making it too overwhelming to learn.
  • If you’re looking for a deep dive, the “Deep Learning Specialization” on Coursera, also by Andrew Ng, is an excellent choice. His courses, personally, have been game-changers for me.

In closing, the pursuit of Machine Learning, AI, and Python is not just about embracing high-income skills but also a means to follow your passion and leave an indelible mark on the world. As we step into 2024 and beyond, investing in these skills is an investment in your future, where your passion meets prosperity in the ever-evolving world of technology. Your journey starts now!
