We headed back to Cineworld to take a trip to the multiverse for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness in IMAX for our latest Marvel Cinematic Universe review.

Back in Spider-Man: No Way Home, Doctor Strange opened up the Multiverse and things really started to kick off from there, but now there is more than meets the eye as we are introduced to America Chavez (Xochitl Gomez) who has the ability to open portals to the many universes that are out there.

She arrives in universe 616 just as Stephen Strange is at a wedding and all mayhem breaks loose as Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) and Wong (Benedict Wong) help America against a bizarre-looking creature that has followed her through the portal.

Now it’s down to Strange and Chavez to save the world from the inevitable doom that is on the horizon, but first of all Strange decides that he needs help from the most powerful witch he knows of, the one and only Wanda, the Scarlett Witch (Elizabeth Olsen).

But things don’t go to plan and Strange and Chavez are both set on a journey across the multiverse to try and save them, along the way they come across familiar faces that have a twist to their characters, it’s highly recommended that you watch “What If?…” to get the reference on a couple, but most you can pick up on with some pleasant surprises along the way to bring the Madness of the Multiverse to the IMAX screen.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness certainly works for the title as there are plenty of moments that do come across as madness, but they work so well with the story that ducks and dives throughout the film, bringing us some great cameos along the way, look out for Bruce Campbell in one of the universes.

Being a fan of Sam Raimi I had been looking forward to the film for a while and it’s hard to think that it has been 9 years since his last feature which was Oz the Great and Powerful, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has some great Raimi moments with his camera angles quick shot editing and more, fans will pick up on a few other things as well such as The Evil Dead homage and more, also with all his films keep an eye out for his 1973 Oldsmobile Delta 88.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (7)

When it comes to the soundtrack, as soon as you hear it you know that it has been written by the amazing Danny Elfman, the music throughout the film has those signature Elfman traits that just sound great on the IMAX cinema system, the choir type vocals are just amazing to listen to.

I have to say that I really enjoyed Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and it is certainly up in my top Marvel Movies with Spider-Man: No Way Home, the 126mins just flew by as the film really doesn’t give you many moments to sit back and take a breath from the action sequences.

Watching the Film in IMAX

Watching Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness in IMAX was certainly a great choice, the film was made to be experienced in IMAX, with up to 26% more picture with IMAX’s exclusive 1.90:1 Expanded Aspect Ratio, immersing you in the multiverse from the beginning to end and this is something that not that many films do, so it’s an added bonus to use the screen the way it was intended to be used.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (8)

Not only does the screen look amazing with its bright colours and crystal clear images, but the sound is superb with all the speakers being used to their potential to take you on the journey through the multiverse, from loud moments that vibrant your seat with the bass to the quieter moments that give you the clarity of hearing the slightest sound on the film.

I have to say for me, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness in IMAX has been one of the best ways to watch the film, the massive screen experience is the best way to see more of the multiverse.
