The Superior Overdrive is a 2-in-1 pedal packed with 2 separate classic overdrive circuits that happen to stack extremely well. Use them individually, set them both to detonate, or dial one in as a boost to help you cut through the mix. These two modified circuits stacked like this is just glorious; better than any other combination we've played. That's why it's called Superior.
On the right (first in order) is our East Side Overdrive, which is a souped-up version of the iconic Paul Cochrane Timmy. Our modifications are:
- Additional clipping options: asymmetrical, symmetrical, and extra-compressed.
- An internal trimmer that allows you to fine-tune the amount of bass frequencies prior to the distortion stage of the circuit. Great for "hot" humbuckers that tend to "swamp" typical overdrives.
- The Treble and Bass controls work conventionally: clockwise to increase (unlike the reversed original).
On the left is our West Side Overdrive circuit, which is based on the ever-popular Marshall Blues Breaker. Our modifications:
- External Presence control (full clockwise for most rigs; counter-clockwise to brighten up a dark amp).
- Compressed or Open (diode lift) clipping options.
- Additional gain and overall volume on tap.
This particular unit is B-Stock, which means there are some aesthetic blemishes on the enclosure or knobs. (See pics; this is the actual pedal for sale.) The pedal is otherwise 100% functional and identical in operation to "A-Stock" units; just discounted from the regular price.
Jacks and power are on the top to save space on your pedalboard, and the pedal is industry-standard 1590BB size (4.7 in x 3.7 in x 2.5 in, including knobs).
