"The three-thousand hitting thing was the first time I let individual pressure get to me. I was uptight about it. When I saw the hit going through, I had a sigh of relief more than anything." - Career At-Bat Record Leader Carl Yastrzemski in Baseball Digest (September 1981, Peter Gammons, 'Yastrzemski Recalls His Most Memorable Game, Page 22)

Pete Rose had more than six-hundred at-bats for seventeen seasons including thirteen consecutive seasons, both of which are Major League records.

The record for at-bats during a nine-inning game is eight held by eighteen Major League players. However, the last player to accomplish this was Barry McCormick of Chicago on June 29, 1897.

Did you know that Jimmie Foxx is the only American League player to have six plate appearances and zero at-bats? In a show of true respect, he was walked six times on June 16, 1938. National League players who tied his record are: Miller Huggins of St. Louis on June 1, 1910; Pop Smith of Boston on April 17, 1890; Billy Urbanski of Boston on June 13, 1934; and Walt Wilmot of Chicago on August 22, 1891.
