The Death of Archie Andrews[]

Archie Andrews (Rivervale) (1)

Archie awakens from a nightmare, in which he and Betty were hooking up until they found a bomb under the bed. Archie remarks that the weirdest part is that they were living in a town called "Riverdale." They then go to meet Kevin in the woods, where he came across a sacrificed deer. Cheryl arrives not long after and forces them to leave unless they want to be shot by arrows as they are trespassing on Thornhill territory.

Archie Andrews (Rivervale) (2)

After helping Jughead and Tabitha move in, Archie goes to the community center, where he gives an update on the town's reforestation plan. Since Cheryl declared Thornhill a sovereign state, they've lost their local supply of maple syrup as well as the revenue it was bringing in, which is why Archie proposes they buy and distribute maple saplings — one per family, to be planted in each family's yard. Archie and his crew will take point in seeding a grove of maple trees that the town will own.

Archie Andrews (Rivervale) (3)

Archie gets off the phone with his mom, who was wondering if Archie and Betty had put anymore thought into what she asked the late time she saw them. Betty presumes that she's referring to marriage and reminds Archie that they decided marriage wasn't for them because everyone they know who's married, is either divorced or dead. However, Archie explains that she was actually referring to grandchildren. If it were up to Archie, it would happen sooner rather than later. While she has been dreaming about starting a family with Archie since the sixth grade, Betty wants them to take their time.

Archie Andrews (Rivervale) (4)

Archie and Frank set up a distribution center outside of Pop's for the maple saplings. Cheryl confronts them and accuses Archie of making a play for her maple birthright and empire, but Archie reminds Cheryl that she doesn't own maple trees or syrup. Every citizen of Rivervale should be able to tap their own tree. In that case, Cheryl orders thirteen saplings to plant in the Thornhill groves, but as Archie recalls, Cheryl succeeded from their town and his maple trees are reserved for tax paying citizens of Rivervale. Archie offers her a chance to rejoin their township, but Cheryl refuses after he tried to erase the sins the town perpetrated against her ancestor, Abigail Blossom.

Betty has been thinking and suggests that she and Archie adopt a baby. Archie's dad always used to tell him that the most fulfilling things he ever did was become a father, and Archie wants to do that with Betty for every step of the process. Betty assures Archie that there's nothing more she wants than to have his baby.

Archie Andrews (Rivervale) (5)

Archie, Frank, Fangs, and Kevin arrive at the field where they intend to plant the saplings, only to discover that Cheryl has impaled the ground with poppet dolls to scare them off. However, after learning from Kevin that the saplings were later destroyed, Archie confronts Cheryl, who denies doing any such thing but has invited the entire town to Thornhill for the Maple Harvest Festival, which both Archie and Betty are suspicious of, but decided to attend nonetheless. Archie competes against Jughead in the pancake eating contest, whilst Betty does some snooping around.

Archie Andrews (Rivervale) (6)

After defeating Jughead, Archie and Reggie face off in a log-cutting competition, which Archie ultimately wins. The final round has come, and Archie faces off against Betty in an axe throwing contest, which Betty wins, but as a consolation prize, Archie is given a pie, which he and Betty take home and eat before having sex on the table next to what Betty claims to be a fertility doll.

Archie Andrews (Rivervale) (7)

Archie gets a call from Kevin, who tells him that Cheryl and some of the others have taken Betty and are performing some kind of ritual. Archie races to Thornhill, where he finds the entire town waiting his arrival. Cheryl explains that it's a ritual. If they want their maple trees to thrive and for Rivervale to have a bountiful year, then a sacrifice has to be made. Betty then reveals that she's pregnant with Archie's child. Archie's blood is what will bring the town back to its glory, as he has the distinction of being the town's one true, pure heart. Archie looks to Jughead and Frank for help, but they're both in on it. Veronica then sneaks up behind Archie and knocks him unconscious. Archie awakens tied to a cross with a thorn crown on his head and ruins drawn in blood on his body. Cheryl approaches, stabs Archie, and rips his heart out as a sacrifice to the Maple Maiden.[1]

Archie's resurrection[]

Archie Andrews (Rivervale) (8)

Archie is in bed with Betty, who awakens from a nightmare in which the whole town conspired to sacrifice Archie. Later that day, Archie and Betty are asked about an explosion by Jughead, but Archie doesn't remember any bombing. However, Jughead suspects that the explosion created Rivervale, which by Jughead's account is a parallel universe. It is then that Betty recalls Archie mentioning having a dream about an explosion, but as far as he's concerned, it was just a dream.

Archie has his bachelor party at Babylonium. He has been thinking about his dad a lot lately. Admittedly, it's crazy, but Archie keeps imagining that somehow he'll show up for his wedding.

Archie Andrews (Rivervale) (9)

After Archie gets word that Jason Blossom was abducted by the Black Hood, Jughead shares his theory of Jason's location. If the events of Riverdale are indeed repeating in Rivervale, then that would mean Jason is at the Whyte Wyrm. With Sheriff Keller as back up, Archie and Jughead barge into the Whyte Wyrm and find Jason restrained to a chair. As they untie him, the Black Hood returns and aims his gun, but he is shot dead by Sheriff Keller. Jughead removes the hood to discover that Clifford Blossom is Jason's abductor and the Black Hood.

Archie Andrews (Rivervale) (10)

Archie misses his own wedding to stop Jughead from separating the universes, the same way he stopped Veronica by strangling the life from her because Jughead told her the truth. Archie also killed Cheryl and the other Jughead. He did so all in the name of seeing his father again, as no one stays dead in Rivervale. Archie assures Jughead that Cheryl, Veronica, and everyone else will come back. This is Archie's one chance to be reunited with his dad. Archie knows all this because he was at ground zero for the birth of Rivervale. He saw everything, including the dead coming back to life, the other Jughead, and the distortions. It's not a copy or mistake, rather another chance to be with his dad. Jughead tries to explain that they have to separate the universes to save Riverdale, but Archie is determined to see his dad again, so much so that he slams Jughead onto a table and proceeds to choke the life from him until Betty shoots Archie in the back of the head, killing him.

Archie Andrews (Rivervale) (11)

Archie eventually reanimates and resumes his mission to stop Jughead. He begins banging on the door with a bat as Betty and Jughead hug each other tightly and brace themselves as the bomb's timer reaches zero, but Jughead succeeds in writing a new story for Rivervale, which consists of Archie and the gang simply having dinner as a family.[2]

Archie and the gang come together to assist Riverdale's Jughead with defeating Percival. After Jughead lures him into a trap, the gang stabs him with his own daggers, leaving him weak enough for Tabitha to turn him over to the devil.[3]

Physical Appearance[]

Archie is a tall, muscular, man in his mid-20s with pale skin, messy red hair, and brown eyes.

Personality[]

Archie shares a lot of similar personality traits with his Riverdale counterpart. He's kind-hearted, compassionate, and loyal to his community, demonstrated by his attempt to help Rivervale's depleting maple supply. However, unlike his Riverdale counterpart, this version of Archie is a cold-blooded killer, killing at least three of his friends without any remorse.
