Global sales for fresh apples exported by all countries were worth a total US$6.6 billion in 2022.
The overall value of exported apples declined via an average -13.1% drop for all exporting countries since 2018 when worldwide shipments of apples were valued at $7.6 billion.
Year over year, spending on globally exported shrank by -17.8% compared to $8.04 billion for 2021.
The 5 biggest exporters of fresh apples in 2022 were mainland China, Italy, United States of America, New Zealand and Chile. Collectively, that power cohort of international suppliers accounted for almost three-fifths (59.6%) of apples exported worldwide during 2022.
Switching our focus to continents, suppliers in European countries sold the highest dollar worth of exported fresh apples during 2022 with shipments valued at $2.4 billion or 36% of the worldwide total. In second place were Asian exporters at 24.8% while another 14% of international apple sales originated from North America.
Providers in Latin America excluding Mexico but including the Caribbean generated 9% worth, trailed by Oceania at 8.7% mostly New Zealand, then apple sources in Africa at 7.4%.

By value, the listed 15 countries shipped 90% of globally exported apples in 2022.
Among the top exporters, there were only two that grew their shipments year over year, namely Moldova (up 3.5% from 2021) and South Africa (up 0.7%).
Those countries that posted declines in their exported apples sales were led by: Netherlands (down -44.9% from 2021), mainland China (down -27.2%), Poland (down -24.9%), Belgium (down -21.2%) and Spain (down -18.8%).
Countries Exporting Most Apples Ranked by Shipment Weight
The total volume shipped for the world’s exported apples amounted to 7.52 million tons in 2022, down by -9.5% from 8.32 million tons 5 years earlier in 2018.
Year over year, the total for exported apples by shipment weight shrank by -17.2% compared to 9.1 million tons during 2021.

Average Prices for Major Apples Exporters
In 2022, the world’s average unit price for globally exported apples was US$878 per ton. That dollar metric represents a -3.9% decrease from $914 during 2018.
Compared to the global average $885 per ton in 2021, the latest average unit price results from a flatlining -0.8% year-over-year reduction.
