Most of the #CFO/CEO, get their tongue ripped off when facing criminal investigations. They often display to have no knowledge of Financial Statements (FS), I wonder Why? Guilty conscious - they don't even try to disclose F/S on their inception and or before investigation.😂 😁

Unlocking the power of RISK MANAGEMENT ❓ Is it a responsibility of the Risk Manager … CFO … or maybe Head of Internal Audit❓ Risk management often remains an unsung hero in the world of finance, yet it holds the key to safeguarding an organisation's future. But here's the exciting part – it's not just the CFO's secret weapon ... it's a valuable resource for the Internal Audit function too❗ Taking inspiration from a thought-provoking post by Anders Liu-Lindberg (link in the comment 👇 ), I would like to encourage you to consider the use of the CFO's Checklist for Internal Audit purposes as well. 🔍Here's a glimpse of the checklist's versatility:✅ Governance & Strategy:Align risk strategy with business goals for CFOs, while Internal Audit ensures governance adherence.✅ Risk Identification:CFOs identify financial risks, while Internal Audit extends this to operational and compliance risks.✅ Risk Assessment:Evaluate risk impact and likelihood, with Internal Audit adding an independent perspective.✅ Risk Mitigation:Develop mitigation strategies for CFOs, and Internal Audit validates their effectiveness.✅ Compliance & Regulations:Stay compliant with changing regulations, a joint effort of CFOs and Internal Audit.✅ Data & Technology:CFOs leverage data for risk management, while Internal Audit ensures data integrity.✅ Crisis Management:Prepare for crises collaboratively, with both teams contributing to crisis response plans.✅ Insurance & Risk Transfer:CFOs assess insurance coverage, while Internal Audit reviews risk transfer processes.✅ Reporting & Communication:Establish transparent reporting mechanisms for CFOs and ensure Internal Audit can access critical data.✅ Global Considerations:CFOs address international risks, and Internal Audit evaluates global compliance. In essence, risk management isn't the sole responsibility of a Risk Management Officer. It's a shared commitment! Collaborative efforts between the CFO and the Internal Audit function forge a robust risk management ecosystem, reinforcing financial resilience and nurturing organizational trust. In the ever-evolving landscape of finance, mastering risk management is the key to sustainable success. CFO risk management guide **Step 1: Identify the risks**The first step in risk management is to identify the risks that your company faces. This can be a daunting task, but it's important to be as comprehensive as possible. Consider all of the potential risks, both internal and external, that could impact your company's finances. Some common risks that CFOs should consider include:* Financial risks, such as market volatility, interest rate changes, and inflation* Operational risks, such as natural disasters, supply chain disruptions, and employee errors* Regulatory risks, such as changes in tax laws or environmental regulations* Reputational risks, such as product recalls or data breaches**Step 2: Assess the risks**Once you've identified the risks, you need to assess their potential impact on your company's finances. This involves estimating the probability of each risk occurring and the potential financial loss that could result. For example, the probability of a natural disaster occurring may be low, but the potential financial loss could be high. On the other hand, the probability of an employee error occurring may be high, but the potential financial loss may be low.**Step 3: Mitigate the risks**Once you've assessed the risks, you can start to develop strategies to mitigate them. This may involve implementing controls to reduce the probability of a risk occurring, or developing contingency plans to minimize the impact of a risk if it does occur. For example, you could implement a risk management system to identify and track risks, or you could purchase insurance to protect your company from financial losses.**Step 4: Monitor the risks**Risks are constantly changing, so it's important to monitor them on an ongoing basis. This will help you identify new risks and make sure that your mitigation strategies are still effective. You can monitor risks by conducting regular risk assessments, reviewing financial statements, and staying up-to-date on industry trends.**Conclusion**Risk management is an essential part of being a CFO. By following the steps outlined in this guide, you can help to protect your company's finances from potential risks. #success #tax #data #insurance #supplychain #help #riskmanagement #environmental #finances
