The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) recently released a report which ranked the best highways in the country. The main objective was to identify the gaps in design, standards, practices, guidelines and contract agreements. The rating has been completed based on 39 parameters broadly categorised into three main criteria Highway Efficiency, Highway Safety and User Services. Here are the 11 best national highway stretches in India:
1. Ahmedabad - Vadodara (NH-48) -
The 102.30 km long six-lane of National Highway Ahmedabad-Vadodara stretch (NH-48) has been rated the best NH in the country.
2. Goa / Karnataka - Kundapur (NH-66) -
Goa, Karnataka to Kundapur section of NH-66 was ranked second-best national highway stretch in terms of safety, user services and efficiency with a score of 91.11 out of 100.
3. Ahmedabad - Vadodara Expressway (NE-1) -
The 93.1 km long expressway connecting the cities of Ahmedabad and Vadodara ranked third best national highway with a score of 90.78 out of 100.
4. Simga - Sargaon (NH-130)
NH-130 connecting Simga to Sargon highway stretch was ranked fourth by scoring 89.54 out of 100 in terms of safety, user services and efficiency.
5. Solapur-Yedashi (NH-211) -
98 km long Solapur-Yedeshi section of NH-211 was placed fifth in this list with a score of 89.29 out of 100.
6. Krishnagiri - Walajahpet (NH-48) -
The 148-km long NH-48 stretch between Krishnagiri and Walajahpet has been ranked as India’s sixth-best highway stretch.
7. Godhra - Gujarat (NH-47) -
The 87.1 km long NH47 connecting Godhra and Gujarat/Madhya Pradesh border ranked seventh.
8. Bangalore - Neelamangala (NH-4) -
NH4 stretch between Bangalore to Nelamangala stands eighth in best highway stretch in terms of efficiency, safety and user services.
9. Islam Nagar - Kadthal (NH-44) -
NH44 stretch between Islam Nagar and Kadthal was ranked India’s eleventh best highway stretch.
10. Mahulia - Baharagora and Baharagora - Chichira (NH-33) -
NH-33 connecting Mahulia to Baharagora and Baharagora to Chichira bagged the tenth position in the list.
