The 2023 Audi R8 is the end of the line for the glorious naturally aspirated 10-cylinder-powered supercar, and its farewell is likely to be marked by a special-edition model.
Now we're getting official word that the V10 R8 is the last of its breed. A few weeks ago we reported that the R8 would be all-electric when the next generation arrived. Despite lots of other ideas out there, Audi confirmed that today. Production is slated to end by 2023.
Since they've gone to the trouble of ripping out the front driveshafts, it'd be a shame not to… It's thought the super-R8 will be revealed in autumn 2022, and will remain in production for a year until the curtain comes down on this version of Audi's V10 legend in 2023.

So, this is an interesting chart from Car Gurus showing the average prices for an R8 over the past two years. Without a doubt, there's now a strong up-trend in prices. Today, the average price is now up over 20% and $20k from last May, while prices are up around $15k from 2 years ago in May 2019.

I posted a thread on this a few days back - according to Car Guru data, average R8 prices are up around 20% year over year.
Those superior power specs lead to the Aventador Roadster's equally superior performance numbers, as the convertible is able to hit 62 miles per hour half a second faster than the R8 Spyder while also going on to hit a max speed of 19 mph more.

Dodge's demonic supercharged V8 engine and the Challenger and Charger models that feature it will end production with the 2023 model year, the brand's boss has confirmed. "I will have this car, this platform, this powertrain as we know it through the end of '23.

Thanks to the free-flowing, redline-loving engine, the V-10 RWD R8 can sprint to 60 mph from rest in 3.7 seconds in the coupe form and 3.8 seconds with the fabric top. The top speed is rated at 204- and 203 mph for the coupe and Spyder models, respectively.

A Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price of $146,500 is applied to the 2022 R8 V10 Performance Coupe RWD, plus a destination charge, then a gas guzzler tax of $1,700. It's $199,800 for the 2022 R8 V10 Performance Coupe Quattro with all-wheel drive and the more powerful engine.
Will there be a 2024 Audi R8?
A new report from Auto Bild suggests that the third-generation R8 will get a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged power plant shared with models like the Lamborghini Urus. The difference is, it'll also have electric assistance. That's at odds with previous reports that the R8 is set to be replaced as early as 2024.

The Audi R8 is a supercar from a dying breed. As makers add turbochargers to their cars to meet ever-stricter emissions targets, the naturally aspirated engine is falling out of favour. In some ways, the R8 is a fantastic last hurrah.
We were all but certain the stylish coupe and convertible were being discontinued back in 2020, but this plucky little sportster has managed to hang on for yet another year. Audi introduced the current, third-generation TT for 2016, and there are no changes for 2023 beyond a new 18-inch wheel design.
