Who took over TD Waterhouse?
The Toronto-Dominion Bank says it has completed the merger of TD Waterhouse Group, Inc., with TD Waterhouse Holdings, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of TD Bank. The merger, effective November 26, was the second step in a two- step acquisition.
However, Ameritrade instead purchased TD Waterhouse USA, with TD Bank holding a 39% stake in the new entity.
The company was founded as Ameritrade in 1971. In 2006, it acquired the United States operations of TD Waterhouse from Canadian holding company TD Bank Group and was renamed TD Ameritrade, with TD holding a significant ownership stake in the resulting combined company.
What You Need to Know. Schwab will be moving client accounts and assets from TD Ameritrade to Schwab's platform in the second half of 2023. The company will start communicating and getting the integration going from an advisor perspective in earnest in the second half of 2022.
