Today, Keystone's US operations are proud to produce and deliver the highest quality beef, chicken and fish products to McDonald's, including more than 150 million pounds of beef, 300 million pounds of chicken and 15 million pounds of fish each year.
The shapes came about when McDonald's partnered with Tyson Foods to keep up with the demand for poultry. The chicken meat in a nugget is ground and then seasoned and mixed before being pressed into a mold in one of the four aforementioned shapes.
The chicken in our McNuggets® is 100% chicken breast – chopped into small pieces in order to make it easier to shape and eat. In our restaurants, each Chicken McNugget® is cooked by our teams until perfectly crisp and then served nice and hot.
Currently, McDonald's does not own any of the slaughterhouses or factory farms that produce the meat for their restaurant. But that doesn't mean they don't care.
While McDonald's admitted that its poultry is not free-range, it asserted that the welfare of its chickens was a priority nonetheless.

Tyson Foods Inc's pork processing plant in Logansport, Indiana, has been suspended from exporting products to China, the U.S. Department of Agriculture said on Monday. The suspension is effective Aug. 29, the agency said.
