What time of day are Direct Debits taken?
Typically Direct Debit payments will be debited from an account between 1am and 7am. However, in reality, Direct Debits can be deducted at any time of day. Direct Debit files are submitted in batches, and the time at which the files are submitted can affect exactly when funds are debited and credited.
There are several reasons why Direct Debits can be collected early. They include: Not understanding the Bacs 3-day cycle and therefore submitting files early. Submitting files without including a processing or payment date within the file – meaning transactions default to the Bacs 3-day cycle.
