What scale is LEGO Trains?
The train system is sometimes referred to as 'L-gauge' among Lego fans, in reference to traditional model railway scales. Lego trains use a nominal gauge of 37.5mm, 5.5mm wider than O gauge, derived from a centreline gauge of 40mm (five lego studs).
I assume you are aware of the existence of LEGO Trains such as 60052 Cargo Train? The scale of these trains is not directly compatible with LGB's G-scale (the LEGO scale is sometimes referred to as L-Scale or L-Gauge) but many of the train elements can be used for building different scales.
The System cars are 1:87 scale and focus on European models. There are a number of Volkswagens, including numerous Beetles, Vans, and Pickups.
Minifigs don't have the same proportions as average humans. They are comparable to a 600 pound male. Based on minifig height, the scale is about 1:45. Based on minifig width, the scale is about 1:32.
Scale | Ratio | Model gauge |
---|---|---|
N | 1:160 | 0.353 in (8.97 mm) |
TT | 1:120 | 0.470 in (11.94 mm) 0.472 in (12 mm) 12 mm (0.472 in) |
HOn2 or 3.5 mm | 1:87.1 | 7 mm (0.276 in) |
HOn30 or 3.5 mm | 1:87.1 | 9 mm (0.354 in) (0.353 in) |
Based on the LEGO minifigure's width, we get a scale of about 1:25. It would be easy to modify the height of a LEGO Minifigure to be proportionate to it's width. This would result in a consistent 1:25 ratio both vertically and horizontally.
There's some compatibility between all the LEGO® train tracks. Over the years, we've never changed the width of the train tracks. The train cars from all earlier models will run on the new track and connect to the new trains.

LEGO has just taken the wraps off its next Ultimate Collector Series Star Wars set, a minifigure-scale version of the Empire's most fearsome walker, the AT-AT. With 6,785 pieces, 75313 AT-AT stands over two feet tall and features a fully detailed interior.
75192 Millennium Falcon is constructed at minifigure-scale, measuring 84cm in length. While perfect accuracy cannot be verified, I think the Millennium Falcon appears appropriate beside minifigures and am therefore satisfied with this scale.
What LEGO Minifigure is the rarest?
The Boba Fett Collection
Firstly, they were given away at the San Diego Comic-Con and Star Wars Celebration V convention in 2010. Secondly, only two of the 14-carat gold Boba Fett Minifigures are known to exist. Definitely making it the rarest of all LEGO Minifigures ever.
The height of a LEGO brick is around 9.6 millimeters. The length and width of a 1x1 LEGO brick are 8 millimeters, which means that for every additional part of a brick (e.g. 2x1), every part adds up 8 more millimeters, which means that the width is 16 millimeters and the length is 8 millimeters.

The company initially struggled to find a scale that would fit with the existing Lego System of Play, exploring 3:1 and 4:1 scales, but eventually settled on a 2:1 scale.
This article is about the LEGO figure. For the theme, see Minifigures. Minifigures, commonly referred to as a "minifig", or simply just "fig", are small plastic figures just over 1 1/2 inches (4 cm), or four bricks tall.
