Fully automatic means you can press and hold the trigger and the gun will continue to fire until you release the trigger. Semi-automatic means the gun fires once for each press of the trigger.
Fully automatic is the mode of operation of a firearm whereupon the trigger is pulled and multiple shots are fired and will continue to fire until the trigger is released or until the magazine is empty.
