What is the difference between Airstream and Argosy?
The most noticeable difference between the Argosy brand and the Airstream brand is the Argosy has a painted exterior instead of the classic aluminum exterior of the Airstream line. Underneath the paint the Argosy still had an aluminum outer skin.
Beginning in 1974 Airstream began manufacturing a Class A motorhome, badged “Argosy”. These began as painted aluminum 20- and 24-foot models and were followed in 1979 by the first of their Classic model motorhomes, with an unpainted aluminum body, much like the trailers they are known for.

In 1972 Airstream launched a new line of trailers under the brand name Argosy. So the answer is yes .. Argosy is a product of Airstream.
The Airstream Classic
The Classic works well for long trips, full-time living, and shorter camping adventures with a luxurious bathroom, a modern kitchen including a convection microwave, and a 60-inch projection screen inside the lounge area.
According to Airstream, its cheapest option is the Basecamp trailer, which, at 16 feet long, can fit two people. It starts at $38,000, so it's roughly the price of a brand-new SUV. The cheapest Airstream trailer that can hold a family of four is the Bambi. It's 16 to 22 feet long, and it starts at about $50,000.
As a general guideline, trailers under 25 feet are best for an individual or a couple taking occasional short duration trips. Many with families opt for a trailer in the 24 - 28 foot range and couples camping for longer periods of time also often prefer this length range.

After a move to consolidate, Airstream closed its California factory at the end of the 1978 model year and the Versailles factory ceased production of Argosy Travel Trailers in late 1978.
