What is pre approve in Airbnb?
If you pre-approve and they don't book, it doesn't have any effect on your acceptance rate. And if you decline an inquiry, your acceptance rate is not affected. A booking request means that the guest is officially asking to book your listing and is waiting for you to accept or decline.
A pre-approval is a way for a host to let you know if their listing is available for the dates you've inquired about. Once you're pre-approved, you can automatically book your reservation for those dates without waiting for another response from your host.
- Tap Profile and then tap Switch to hosting.
- Tap Inbox.
- Open the message from the guest and tap Details.
- Tap Pre-approve.
- Go to your Inbox.
- Select the message from the guest.
- Click Withdraw pre-approval.
Before we get into exactly how to decline bookings, let's review some of the most common reasons why Airbnb hosts decline bookings: Scheduling conflicts. Sometimes hosts forget to update their calendars. They may have to then decline dates for which their properties should have been marked off as unavailable on Airbnb.

Pre-approval is not a guarantee, but it is also not a commitment. Just as lenders reserve the right to reject your application, you'll still be able to back away from the mortgage process without consequence.
Hosts will be able to cancel Instant Book reservations online three times in one year for these reasons—after that, they'll have to contact us to cancel without consequences. Otherwise, fees will apply. If a Host cancels a large number of Instant Book reservations, they may be required to turn off Instant Book.
In everywhere but India, if the Host accepts your request, you'll be charged for the reservation. If they decline or don't respond within 24 hours, there's no charge and you'll be free to book a different stay instead. For guests paying in Indian rupees, you'll be charged for the reservation when you request to book.
Cancellation fee
If you cancel a confirmed reservation, a fee will be deducted from your first payout after the cancellation. The amount depends on when you accepted the reservation and how soon before check-in you canceled it: More than 7 days before check-in, $50 will be deducted from your next payout.
What happens if you decline a booking on Airbnb?
Both guests and Hosts can decline trip change requests. If you decline, the proposed changes don't take effect, and the existing reservation details remain as is. There are no penalties for declining, but if you're a Host, there are a few issues to consider when responding to a trip change request from a guest.
Re: Hi how do I answer a booking request
To your question - the email is simply a notification, the same as an sms text message from Airbnb in case you don't use the app. You have to stay logged into your account, and when you get a notification check your account.
For reservations of 28 nights or more, you'll be charged an initial down payment for the first month upon confirmation. After that, you'll be charged monthly. You can review the dates of your monthly payments during checkout.
What happens next? If you booked instantly, you're good to go. If you sent a request, your Host will typically respond within 24 hours. In the meantime, we may ask you to verify your identity—some Hosts require it, and it helps us ensure the safety of our community.
The Host can then invite you to book in two ways: Invitation to book: Allows you to book for the dates and prices shown when you contacted the Host. Special offer: Host chooses a custom price (or other details) and invites you to book with the new details. You'll have 24 hours to accept the special offer.
