The first humanoid robot was a soldier with a trumpet, made in 1810 by Friedrich Kaufmann in Dresden, Germany.
The word 'robot' was first used to denote a fictional humanoid in a 1920 Czech-language play R.U.R. (Rossumovi Univerzální Roboti – Rossum's Universal Robots) by Karel Čapek, though it was Karel's brother Josef Čapek who was the word's true inventor.
First Robots Emerge
In 1956, Devol and his partner Joseph Engelberger formed the world's first robot company. In 1961, the first industrial robot, Unimate, went online in a General Motors automobile factory in New Jersey.
Japan is the world´s predominant robot manufacturing country - where even robots assemble robots: 47% of the global robot production are made in Nippon. The electrical and electronics industry has a share of 34%, the automotive industry 32%, and the metal and machinery industry 13% of the operational stock.
The earliest robots as we know them were created in the early 1950s by George C. Devol, an inventor from Louisville, Kentucky. He invented and patented a reprogrammable manipulator called "Unimate," from "Universal Automation." For the next decade, he attempted to sell his product in the industry, but did not succeed.

Japan. Japan is one of the top countries for robotics professionals because it is home to all kinds of robots like humanoid, entertainment, animal, social, and many more. This country is widely known for recruiting more than a quarter-million industrial robot workers in its industries.
According to the International Federation of Robotics (IFR) study World Robotics 2020, there were about 2,722,077 operational industrial robots by the end of 2019. This number is estimated to reach 3,788,000 by the end of 2021.
Japan has the highest number of industrial robots in the world. Over a quarter of a million robots are employed in an effort to reduce the high labor costs and support further industrial mechanization.

I. The Pre-History of Robots
The golem was created to help with menial labor. The ancient Greek god Hephaestus was believed to build himself mechanical assistants out of gold. Around 400 B.C.E., the Greek mathematician Archytas of Tarentum built a mechanical bird to try and better understand how birds fly.
