Warby Parker designs its product in-house, and sells directly to consumers through its website and stores. The company orders its own materials, such as acetate, from Italy and then manufactures frames at the same Chinese factories as competitors such as Luxottica.
Varilux lenses are specifically designed for people over 40 who experience presbyopia - a condition in which near vision (needed when reading, sewing or working at the computer) becomes increasingly blurred with age. Varilux enables people to see near, far and everything in-between and look fabulous at the same time.
Varilux is a brand name belonging to Essilor International, a producer of corrective lenses. The first version of the lens was invented by Bernard Maitenaz and released in 1959, and was the first modern progressive lens to correct presbyopia.
Crizal provides safer, more comfortable nighttime driving. Night vision can be problematic for people with astigmatisms and can deteriorate for all of us as we age. Sometimes eyes don't adjust between bright light and darkness as quickly as they need to.
Whereas lower quality progressive lenses can often cause dizziness, nausea, and headaches, Varilux's proprietary lens technology enables a smoother transition as your eyes shift from near to far distances. “Varilux is just easier on my eyes,” says Kimmel. “I can wear them longer. They're more comfortable.
The patented technology used in the development of Varilux makes it a favorite among eye doctors. In 2018, a survey taken among independent eye care professionals revealed Varilux as the #1 recommended progressive lens brand.

If you've noticed that you have to lower your head or glasses to read at a distance, this could be a sign that your progressive lenses have been fitted high on your face. Either you or your eye doctor may be able to correct this by adjusting your frames to sit lower on your face or by widening the nose pads.
With this type of eyewear, it's essential to ensure your lenses fit your eyes and face. The minimum fitting height for progressive lenses is 28-30mm. This will allow proper room in each part of the lens so that you can see your best, whether you're driving or using your computer.
On Trustpilot, Warby Parker has an average score of 3.5 stars based on customer ratings, with some people claiming delays in customer service or issues with frame quality.
Last but not least, Warby Parker is so cheap because they offer free shipping and free returns. There is nothing worse with eyeglasses than when you have to pay even more to have the glasses shipped to you. With some eyeglass companies, you have to pay upwards of $20 or more to have the glasses sent to your home.
Warby Parker's glasses are made from cellulose acetate, sourced from a family-owned Italian company. Its frames are assembled in China and crafted on the same production lines as many of its competitors, but because the company cuts out the middlemen, the prices are lower.
While the Zeiss proved to be excellent peripherally in the distance, the Varilux was just as excellent for viewing things of a shorter distance but with great peripheral vision. And I had intermediate vision once again. Almost but not quite as good as the Physio Enhanced but very usable.
How do I know that I have genuine Varilux lenses? Varilux lenses are supplied from the manufacturing laboratory with a Varilux lenses Certificate of Authenticity (COA) card. If you do not receive a COA card with your Varilux lenses, please consult your eyecare professional.

Lens shape is important, too. Progressive wearers should avoid aviators and cat-eyes because both can cut off the bottom portion of the prescription, resulting in a loss of reading vision. Instead, they should look for shorter frames with rounded edges such as horn-rimmed, retro wingtip, circular, and oval ones.
Bigger lenses ensure you have ample coverage for each prescription. Most types of progressive lenses fit better in large frames, so you'll need bigger lenses to go with them.
