Are authentic Coach bags made in Vietnam?
While most Coach bags are now made in China – which is basically the motherland of counterfeits – Coach still prides itself on quality stitching that runs beautifully across their products.
Some tips before you go shopping for Designer Bags in Vietnam. Bargaining is your best friend: the counterfeit market for handbags in Vietnam is supplied mainly from China and some rural villages in Vietnam where the items can be bought at an unbelievable price, even as low as $1.5 – $2 per item.
The serial number is stamped into the fabric of the creed of an authentic Coach bag. If the bag is fake, it might contain a serial number that has been inked on. In recent bags, the style and productions codes have been attached separately from the creed. These are seen on a small white tag often sewn inside a pocket.
Due to the demand for the brand, Coach bags are no longer made in New York. Instead, they're crafted by specialists in Cambodia, Vietnam and the Philippines, with the production embossed into the inner label.
Coach does not offer authentication services, and according to their website, will not authenticate handbags or other merchandise, nor will they determine whether serial numbers match actual Coach items. They encourage customers to only buy from authorized Coach retailer to ensure they are purchasing an authentic bag.
Coach bags don't have an actual “serial number” anymore, but what they do have is a “style number” combined with a few extra numbers that are actually way more useful than an actual serial number.
China is where the majority of Coach bags and wallets are made. However, you may discover some Coach bags are manufactured in Vietnam and two other countries. Third-party manufacturers are common and the only way to ascertain where a purse was made is to look either on the Coach creed or seam tag found in your purse.
Coach Factory Outlets have two different kinds of merch — bags made specifically for the outlet stores (lower quality) and Coach store overflow. About 90% of what you'll find at Coach Factory Outlets are made-for-outlet bags, which means lower quality but a lower price.
Coach Boutiques have more selection of handbags and other items in an array of colours and designs. On the other hand, Coach Factory Outlets have collections specially made for Factory (MFF) outlets, such as the Signature Collection, which designs are much simpler and contains less bling.

They are ALWAYS leather and embossed with the word "Coach." The only way a real authentic Coach purse would come with a metal hangtag is if it was a limited edition.
Most authentic Coach purses use the zipper brand YKK– the highest quality of zippers available. So, look carefully at your zipper pull. If your bag is authentic, you will see the tiny letters 'YKK' on your zipper pull. Fake Coach purses do not have the YKK zippers.
If you see a "Made in China" tag, do not immediately assume it is fake. Some Coach bags are actually made in China, but Coach originated in the USA. If the bag being sold to you is made of canvas or any material that looks and feels like synthetic leather, do not buy it.
Look for labels. Labels are commonly found on the hardware, outside of the bag, and on the inside of the bag. For example, each bag should come with the Coach leather creed, which is a leather patch embossed on the inside containing the bag's serial number.
The four numbers after the dash indicate the bag's style number. For example, consider the serial number: F5D-9966. “F” is the 6th letter of alphabet, which indicates that the bag was manufactured during the 6th month of the year: June. “5” represents the year during which the bag was manufactured.
Most newer bags now have the creed without the number. The serial number is now inside the zipper pocket on a little white tag. YES, some FP bags are like this as well.
The most significant difference between Coach and Coach Outlets is that the bags created for sale at Coach Outlets are usually lower in quality. It's a common misconception that bags originally sold at Coach end up at Coach Outlet.
Coach does not permit its retail stores and online products to be deeply discounted. This leaves bargain hunters with the option of driving to the nearest factory outlet. When you purchase a bag from an outlet, you'll typically pay 30 to 60 percent less than you would at a standard retailer.
So the question many people are asking: are designer outlets fake? Technically, no. Designer outlet stores receive their products from their brand.
