On February 6, 2020, Kmart announced it would close 15 more stores. As of April 16, 2022, only 9 stores remain open, three of them being in the Contiguous United States.

Once it shutters, the number of Kmarts in the U.S. – once well over 2,000 –will be down to three in the continental U.S. and a handful of stores elsewhere, according to multiple reports, in a retail world now dominated by Walmart, Target and Amazon.
The American company's history goes back to travelling salesman Sebastian Spering Kresge from Pennsylvania. In 1897, he opened his first store in Memphis and by the 1950s Mr Kresge had 600 stores bearing his surname. The stores began to convert to the simpler Kmart brand in 1962, the K a nod to its founder.
Because Australia does not have a Walmart store, the answer is no.
Sears is opening three new Home & Life stores, in Overland Park, Kansas; Anchorage, Alaska; and Layette, Louisiana. The company says it plans to open more as it looks for a fresh start after bankruptcy.

Sears filed for Chapter 11 in 2018 and currently has a handful of stores left in the U.S. where it once had thousands. Kmarts continue to operate in Westwood, New Jersey; Bridgehampton, on New York's Long Island, and Miami.
The storefront will be replaced by a Target store, according to Target's list of upcoming locations. Target will also be replacing the Kmart that closed in Wall on Route 35, and the one in Somers Point on 250 New Road.
