Can you turn off IMAX Enhanced Disney plus?
The way to turn the feature on and off isn't obvious, but it is easy: To find the settings, navigate below the play screen to additional options. Squeezed between Suggested, Extras, and Details is a Versions tab where viewers can choose between the IMAX Enhanced or theatrical formats.
These movies will automatically play in IMAX's expanded aspect ratio during the full movie (if available) or during select sequences that were filmed or formatted for IMAX, but the standard Widescreen versions will still be accessible from the Versions tab.
It should work on any TV, but larger 4K HDR tellies will do the best job. But while you'll certainly get a better picture, you won't get the full experience, including immersive audio, unless you opt for an IMAX Enhanced-certified device.
Since 2021, Disney+ has been providing movies with IMAX Enhanced technology, which allows fans to get the special aspect ratio on devices that support the format. Now that these movies will also be offered with the DTS-enhanced sound, it will be easier to turn your living room into your personal theater.
Click on the title you want to watch and navigate to the Details tab to see which video formats are available. To quickly find HD and HDR content, head to the 4K Ultra HD HDR collection on the Home page or use the Ultra HD and HDR filter on the movies and series pages.
IMAX Enhanced presents a slightly larger picture compared to other standards. It employs many of the same audio ideas as Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision, except it uses DTS:X audio technology. You still get object-based surround sound and the immersive experience it provides.
Some puny reasons are : The cameras are much larger and heavier than the usual 35 mm's. Makes plenty of noise so its difficult to use in the dialogue scenes. The cameras have film loads ranging from 30 seconds to two minutes max.

Movie goers swear by the audio-visual quality that IMAX provides. The movie watching experience is enhanced. As a result the ticket prices for IMAX shows are much higher than the regular movies. Even though IMAX theatres were introduced in 1971, they gained popularity much later in the 2000s.
With this, fans can enjoy IMAX's features at home and get a more immersive viewing experience. Its expanded aspect ratio is 1:90:1, offering up to 26% more picture size. This means each scene will show a wider background that viewers did not get to see in ordinary theaters or even in the DVDs with a 4K aspect ratio.
What is the IMAX ratio on Disney plus?
In November 2021, the streaming service launched 13 Marvel movies in Imax's expanded 1.90:1 aspect ratio to deliver up to 26% more on-screen picture for select sequences. All Imax Enhanced titles on Disney+ will be available with Imax signature sound by DTS this year, with the exact date yet to be determined.
Actually, though, IMAX Enhanced in its full form has an audio element too. Namely a specially tweaked version of Xperi's DTS:X multi-channel sound format that adds some IMAX 'secret sauce' (which sounds to me like more dynamic range and, perhaps, a slightly more expansive soundstage) to the regular DTS:X experience.

Image and audio quality
To compare the top specs available on each platform, both Netflix and Disney Plus offer 4K UHD content and support two major HDR formats, HDR10 and Dolby Vision. Only Disney Plus offers IMAX Enhanced content. Both platforms support 5.1 surround sound and Dolby Atmos for immersive audio.
Disney Plus is an on-demand video streaming service that is home to popular movies and TV series from across the Disney content family. Many of these films and TV shows are also available for viewers to watch in 4K, the highest possible video resolution.
Both Dolby Cinema and IMAX are cinema systems, offering a wide range of tools and equipment for movie theaters. The main thing that sets them apart is that Dolby Cinema has better audio and audio tech while IMAX is better for both audio and visuals.
Disney Plus' recommendation of 25Mbps for 4K UHD content is less than Disney's own 4K Blu-rays, which average around 40-50Mbps. Even with Dolby Vision assistance, 4K HDR10 playback on Blu-ray is more detailed and sharper than a 4K Dolby Vision stream.
It uses a variant of the immersive DTS:X audio format to recreate the IMAX experience with deeper bass and wider dynamic range than is typical for a living room environment. Scale refers to IMAX Enhanced titles that were shot with IMAX-certified cameras or specially formatted for its 1.44:1 or 1.9:1 aspect ratio.
This differs from most films where the picture appears wide but does not take up the full height of your screen. IMAX's expanded aspect ratio allows you to see up to 26% more of the original image and experience the full scale and scope of the picture from the comfort of your home or on the go.
Jordan Peele's Nope has been out for some time but if you haven't seen it then I recommend you do – and preferably in an IMAX format. It's a heady mix of horror and sci-fi, with echoes of great movies such as E.T. and Jaws but mixed with the tension that Jordan Peele is known for in his satirical horror oeuvre.
Why isn t everything shot in IMAX?
IMAX has a process unimaginatively called “Digital Media Remastering” (or DMR) which they use on films not shot with their cameras. They claim the process makes images sharper and more suitable for projection on giant screens. However, they refuse to disclose what exactly this process actually entails.
One of the biggest drawbacks of IMAX cameras is the sheer amount of noise they make while filming. That's why it's so incredibly uncommon to find narrative feature films shot entirely in IMAX; no on-set dialogue could be recorded with an IMAX camera making so much noise.
IMAX is worth it if you're visiting a real IMAX theater and not a Digital IMAX (LieMAX), which costs the same but doesn't provide you with that unique experience of excellent audio, pristine image, and visible details on a huge screen.

But for many people, the images in 3-D or IMAX movies look so real that they mess up the brain's ability to sort out the signals coming in from the senses, and trigger that queasy feeling.
The size of the screen in an IMAX theater is much larger than that of a normal movie theater. Being able to see more on-screen makes for a better viewing experience and being so close to such a large screen also creates a sense of immersion not found at other theaters.
Nowadays, most IMAX films are shot on digital cameras and shown on IMAX quality projectors, which are about 20 times as expensive as normal digital projectors. 70mm was a very high quality film in the 1970s and was occasionally used to shoot high budget movies even though 35mm was the standard.
Fortunately, while the IMAX Enhanced-certified devices offer a better experience, you can watch the IMAX Enhanced content on any TV. And you'll still get the benefits like expanded aspect ratio and a clearer picture.
Select the Details tab. Look for a "Remastered Aspect Ratio" toggle.

Does IMAX change aspect ratio?
The system allows digital projection on the full 1.43:1 aspect ratio surface of a traditional IMAX screen, but can also be used on wider screens such as the 1.89:1-aspect-ratio TCL Chinese Theater.
After finding something you'd like to watch, select the Details tab. In the Available in the following formats section, you should see Dolby Atmos. Start playing the content to enjoy the top-notch sound format.

Disney+ has many movies and TV shows which support Dolby Atmos. Essentially, all new movies and big budget TV shows support Atmos, including the Marvel and Star Wars Disney+ series.
- Load Disney+ in your browser, and hover over the profile icon.
- Click on App Settings.
- Choose the desired option: Automatic (Streams in the highest quality available up to 4K UHD) Moderate (Uses less data and streams up to HD quality) ...
- Click Save.
- Click the three-dot menu at the top right of the screen.
- In the menu, click "More tools" and then choose "Clear browsing data…"
- In the "Time range" drop-down menu, click "All time." Then check the option for "Cached images and files."
- Click "Clear data."

It does have an incredible backlog of classic content, though. So, if you're a fan of Marvel, Star Wars, classic Disney, or even old Fox-owned series (depending on where you live), it's certainly worth it. If you are more of a general entertainment fan, though, there are more varied services out there.
Fast Internet Connection: 4K video needs a lot of bandwidth. While Disney Plus doesn't provide specific guidelines for 4K streaming, expect to need at least a 25 Mbps internet connection for the best experience.
Use the IMAX Enhanced filter on the Movies page to see all movies available in IMAX's expanded aspect ratio. Selected movies will also have a Versions tab available, where you can access both the IMAX Enhanced and Widescreen versions.
Just like other streaming services, Disney Plus has an autoplay feature that is enabled by default. This automatically starts the next TV show in the series after a few seconds. If you are not a fan of the autoplay feature, you can disable it in the Disney app.
