Legacy Clear Channel CHR stations “Z-100” WHTZ New York and KIIS-FM Los Angeles (102.7) will no longer be carried by SiriusXM. The history between the companies dates back to the pre-launch of XM Satellite Radio, in which Clear Channel had a stake.
The broadcast group originally placed simulcasts of several of its stations on XM’s channel lineup including WHTZ, KIIS-FM as well as AC “106.7 Lite FM” WLTW New York, “Mix 96.5” KHMX Houston, country “The Big 98” WSIX Nashville, and “104.5 The Beat” WTKS Orlando. Content from Premiere Networks and Fox Sports Radio was also added to the fledgling service.
Since then, Clear Channel evolved to iHeartMedia and debuted the iHeartRadio streaming platform and app. The company sold its stake in SiriusXM in 2013 and kept only “Z-100” and KIIS-FM on the satellite broadcaster. In the years since, “Z-100” was removed from SiriusXM’s channel lineup but remained on the streaming app and KIIS-FM switched its channel position in November.
Effective June 1, KIIS-FM will come off the SiriusXM channel lineup and WHTZ will be removed as an option from the streaming service.
