If the pandemic taught us anything it was in the form of a couple of things. We are resilient, we can overcome and we can most definitely work from home. For many of us this came with doing online meetings and calls, while others it was thinking outside of the box with new job opportunities like day trading. The later being something that for many women has become an excellent stay at home mom job. Especially for the moms who spend a lot of time online.

What can I say? Many a stay at home parent learned rather quickly that they indeed can work full-time jobs. Those of us with kids in 2020 and 2021 all became stay at home moms and dads. We had to figure out how to navigate assisting in the education of our children with virtual school and for many of us, work from home. People everywhere had new challenges and many were either furloughed or lost jobs completely. While the vast majority were able to keep their jobs, they had to do something totally outside of the norm. Working online and having to sit in meetings all alone from the other side of a computer screen became lonely. For the work from home parents, our kids became our coworkers. It’s something that most work from home moms already know all about. We have a lot to juggle, but it can be oh so rewarding.

Going into 2020 I had already decided that I needed to figure out how to make some extra income to help pay for the ever growing list of kid’s activities. With three kids the cost of all those activities really starts to add up! Piano lessons, ice skating lessons, swimming lessons, soccer, t-ball, it feels like the list goes on and on. Earning money at home is something that is important. I’m going to level with you on a truth about my blog… the blog isn’t always steady in the earnings department. It’s constantly an up and down of pageviews, etc.

All of my kids are in school now which means I have more free time during the day and I had been debating whether or not I should get a job outside of the home or go back to school. I have a bachelors degree in psychology and can honestly do a whole lot of nothing with that. Unless I go back for my Masters. I thought about getting a Masters in Public Health or going to nursing school, both of which have been an interest of mine for a long time. Ultimately I decided that would be too many years to complete and too time consuming. I even thought about going to a phlebotomy training program to work part-time at one of the local hospitals or for the Red Cross.

So many possibilities! But my main stress was would I still have the flexibility to be there for my kids if they ever needed me during the day? Field trips, volunteering at the school, all the things that I had been able to do as a stay at home mom. Then 2020 happened and we all know where that put us. My kids were home from school and doing online learning. If I had gotten a job outside of the home then it would have been an even bigger nightmare. So here I was. Back to the drawing board again one how to supplement our income. That’s when I started talking to my husband about the stock market…

I come from a family that invests in the stock market. They also make money from stocks and dividends.

Could I really be involved in day trading as a stay at home mom? I spend a lot of time online with the blog and I feel that I’m pretty good at researching product to determine what will sell, etc. Perhaps the stock market is just perfect for me since I have the time during the day to research and check how things are looking. So I talked to my dad and my brother and the rest is history!
